All assignments must be typed 1.5 spacing with size 12 font Times New Roman (except
for assignment 3).

Chapter 3 METHODOLOGY (5 pages only)


1. Design of study
2. Research framework
3. Measurement and instrument

8. Data analysis

Proposal Presentation
A 10 minutes presentation which will be followed by a question and answer session is
encouraged starting from week 8th. For the presentation, students are expected to prepare
power point slides.

2. CRITIQUES OF TWO (2) QUANTITATIVE RESEARCH ARTICLES (10%)


Due date: Week 8, the maximum number of pages is 3 pages

The guidelines are as follows. Points will be deducted for not following the
guidelines.

3. Was the problem logically deduced from theory?

III. THE LITERATURE REVIEW

1. Is the literature review adequate, up-to-date, critically done and selective?


2. Are the background studies sufficient?

IV. THE DESIGN

1. Was an appropriate research design utilized to meet the stated objectives?


2. Was the population studied clearly specified?
3. Was the sampling method clearly outlined?
4. Was the alpha level specified a priori?

V. THE PROCEDURE

1. Were treatments and/or data collecting methods described so that you could replicate
the study?
2. Were the size and characteristics of the sample adequately described?

VI. THE MEASUREMENT

1. Was any evidence of the reliability of the instrumentation given?


2. Was any evidence of the validity of the instrumentation given?

V. THE INTERPRETATION

1. Were the conclusions consistent with the obtained results?


2. Were the generalizations confined to the population from which the sample was drawn?

3. READING ASSIGNMENT (10%)

Due date: Every week according to the course topics starting from week 2 – week 14

For this individual assignment, all students are expected to read the topics which will be
assigned weekly. A 3-page summary of EACH of the assigned topics need to be submitted
during lecture hours. All students may use their creativity in doing the summary. The reading

4. FINAL EXAM (30%)

A final exam which will take about three hours is scheduled on week 16 th. The questions shall
cover all topics that have been discussed in the lectures and your research proposal, in the form
of objective and subjective questions.
