    MECHANICS FOR THE VOCAL SOLO COMPETITION

    Below are the mechanics for the vocal solo competition and the criteria with which the
    contestants would be adjudged. Read them carefully for strict compliance and guidance.

    1. List of contestants for the vocal solo should be given by the coordinator or the
    department head on or before February 26 (Tuesday) to Mrs. Jhenny Bel Bool at the HR
    Office.
    2. Contestants are reminded to be at the venue at least 30 minutes before the contest
    starts for technical preparations and to cast/draw lots.
    3. Musical accompaniment (minus one) should be saved in a USB which in turn should be
    given to the sound technician/operator prior to the start of the program. The use of any
    musical instrument for accompaniment is NOT allowed.
    4. Song choice is strictly OPM (Original Pilipino Music) which is written, composed and
    sang by a Filipino artist.
    5. Contestants are expected to wear attire suitable for the event.
    6. Criteria for judging are as follows:
     Voice quality/vocal technique (quality of tone of the singer
    and technique used in singing) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 35%
     Musicianship (interpretation, dynamics, diction, phrasing) . . . . . . . . . . 35%
     Rhythm and Timing (voice in relation to the music) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 20%

     Entertainment value and stage presence . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 10%

    7. Three judges will score the contestants. Ranking system in tallying the scores will be
    implemented. Judges’ decision is FINAL.
    8. Any violation of the aforementioned rules is subject for immediate disqualification.
