Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot is one among 13 Universities of Health Sciences in
the Country, which is making a niche in the Medical Education over last few years. It has five facilities
of various
ous health sciences, has 1150 affiliated colleges and about 35000 students are on roll with the
University. In addition to the various courses pertaining to the health sciences, the University has
unique distinction of running skilled courses in as many as 60 streams which shall develop
devel human
resources which is a great need of the society. These skilled Courses are in line with the thoughts of
Hon'ble Prime Minister. The University is committed for transparency accessibility problem solving
approach for the students and maintaining sta standards as per statutory bodies like NMC,
NM DCI & INC. It
is open for the genuine criticism for the development of University. The University and its affiliated
colleges are putting every best effort to increase its infrastructure, so that ambience of better
learning is created.
Improving upon the existing infrastructure and the facilities at its constituent college GGSMC,
Faridkot, we had been able to admit four candidates each in DNB in the post graduate courses in the
department of Obstetrics and Gynaecolo
Gynaecologygy and Radiodiagnosis from session 2018-2020.
2018 This year
we have been able to get 2 seats in the MD Course in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. This is a biggest
achievement by the Baba Farid University by bringing this college to such fame especially when few
years
ars back this Medical College was existing in a small building and with not many facilities.
To add to it, it is worth mentioning here that the GGSMC, Faridkot is running super specialty services
in the cardiology, Urology, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Pediat
Pediatric
ric Surgery, Neonatology, Gastro surgery
as well as Plastic Surgery . In all these department, the service are provided by the specialist doctors
in their respective fields on regular basis.

The Schedule for 2 & subsequent Round of Counseling shall be displayed on the University website
Note-1: COBSE (Counsel of Boards of School Education in India) grants membership to boards/Institutions
that are set up by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or by an Executive orders of the
Central/State Government and broadly follow the National Curriculum Framework/CBSE. Therefore,
candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from member-boards of COBSE are
acceptable for admissions. A complete list of member-Boards of COBSE can be download from
www.cobse.org. Boards not in the list of member –Boards of COBSE shall not be acceptable for
admissions. The Board of Management in its meeting held on 21.08.2013 vide para no. 28 resolved
that the list of Boards recognized by COBSE shall be considered for admission to higher courses run
by the University.
Note-2: Candidate shall mandatorily upload the requisite documents of 10+2 DMC and Punjab
bonafied resident certificate on University website i.e. www.bfuhs.ac.in by logging into
his/her account on University website.
Note-3: The Provisional selection/allotment of seat in the counseling will be subject to verification of
the original documents/checking of eligibility by the Principal of the concerned college. It
shall be the sole responsibility of the Principal to authenticate the eligibility of the allocated
candidate before admitting the candidate to allotted course.
Note-4: Candidates who are not bonafide resident of Punjab shall be considered during 2nd Round of
Counseling after exhausting Punjab State candidates.

INTRODUCTION
BRIEF HISTORY:
The University was established at Faridkot under an Act of Punjab State Legislature (Punjab
Act No. 18 of 1998) in the name of great Sufi Saint Sheikh Farid Ganj-E-Shakar, (1173-1265 A.D.) in
1998 for purposes of affiliating, teaching and ensuring proper and systematic instruction, training
and research in Modern Systems of Medicine and Indian Systems of Medicine. It is not only
affiliating and examining body but also a teaching and research centre in health sciences. It is
expected to play a vital role in improving the standards of medical and health education in the state
and in conducting relevant research in all aspects of health sciences, basic as well as applied, which
ultimately will ameliorate the health standards of the people of Punjab. It is believed that the
university will be a trend setter in developing appropriate modes and models of health care to
ensure quality health care to the people.
The University has been recognized by MCI vide letter no. V/11015/3/2000-ME (UG) dated
9th June, 2000. The UGC has also included the University in the list of recognized universities
maintained by the University Grants Commission, under section 2(1) of the UGC Act. 1956 vide letter
no. F.9-3/97 (CPP-I) dated 4 July. 2002. The Regional Director. World Health Organization, Regional
Office for South-East Asia, World Health House, New Delhi has also forwarded the name of the
University for inclusion in the World Directory of Medical Schools vide letter No. M12/6212 dated 6
May 2002. The University is also included in the list of Commonwealth Universities and their
yearbook 2001 at page No. 692 (Vol. l).
Established with a mission to create an intellectual, academic and physical environment
conducive to free flow of ideas and exchange of information between various faculties of The
University, between this University and other Universities of Health Sciences in the country and
abroad, thereby opening a window to the world for the health professionals, health planners, health
managers, biomedical and social scientists and educationalists in health sciences of the country.
Efforts are on to establish contact with various institutions towards achieving this goal.
UNIVERSITY'S PRESENT STATUS:
All the new buildings of the University and its constituent college, GGS Medical College &
Hospital were completed in the year 2011. The University was shifted to its new building situated at
Sadiq Road, Faridkot in July 2011. Hon'ble Chief Minister, Punjab inaugurated two new University
buildings (Senate Block and Academic Block) on 22-09-2011. Hon'ble Deputy Chief Minister
inaugurated the Radiotherapy Unit, and other buildings of GGS Medical College & Hospital, on 23-
09-2011. The GGS Medical College & Hospital, a constituent college of the University is also shifted
to its new building.
The University Campus comprises of GGS Medical College along with Auditorium of 800
capacity, Senate Block, Academic Block, University College of Physiotherapy, University College of
Nursing, Drug De-addiction Centre, Telemedicine, Edusat and a well equipped state-of-the-art 500
bedded hospital. Coveted projects to set up Trauma Centre, Regional Cancer Centre all in process.
The University has added to its academic convoy University Library & Informatics Division,
Department of Health Sciences Library & Information System, University Centre of Excellence in
Research, Rose Garden and Herbal Garden.

University has acquired 20 Acres of land for its Regional Center at Goindwal Sahib. The

certificate programmes in Health Sciences.

Recently, Govt. of Punjab has transferred 100 bedded Civil Hospital, Badal to University for
strengthening and expanding the connection between rural medical services and the education and
research carried on by the Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. The GGS Medical College &
Hospital, a constituent college of the University has 24 departments and 21 post graduate
departments.
Guru Gobind Singh Medical College & 700 bedded Hospital. Faridkot vide notification no.
8/02/2005-1HB-I11/6308 dated 31.10.2006 and State Institute of Nursing & Paramedical Sciences,
Badal vide notification no. 1/46/07-1HBIV/1163 dated 28.11.2007. In addition to above, the Board of
Management of University also accepted the proposal for starting of Physiotherapy College in the
University campus in its meeting held on dated 03.04.2007 and fourth constituent college was
established viz. University College of Physiotherapy. University has also established its own Institute of
Pharmacy. The GGS Medical College & Hospital, constituent college of the University has 24
departments and 21 post graduate departments and is recognized by MCI.

COLLEGES AFFILIATED WITH UNIVERSITY:
At present the University is having 150 affiliated colleges comprising 140 affiliated and 10
constituent Colleges (with an approximately 35,000 students).
University will soon endeavor to achieve excellence in health care delivery and Medical
Education and Research in the State. Admissions to various undergraduate and post graduate courses
in the affiliated institutions of this University in the State of Punjab are made on merit basis through
the conduct of Entrance Tests.
The University is now primarily focusing on strengthening postgraduate medical education and
research and evolving as a centre of excellence in a rural backdrop.
Selection of the candidates to any institution shall be made on merit and in transparent
manner as per Punjab Government Notification/s.
College Inspections:
The University has started conducting the surprise inspections of all the colleges and due to
this, the colleges are compelled to maintain their standard related to academic staff, discipline and
availability of amenities etc. Moreover, the University has started highlighting the shortcomings which
the colleges have failed to rectify. This information is made available to the prospective students at the
time of admission, before they select the college of their choice.
The University had introduced Onscreen Marking Solution and w.e.f. session 2016 and e-
transfer system of question papers of various courses to the examination centers to maintain the
sanctity of examinations. This process and implementation strategies will help us to deliver, efficiency,
reliability in high stakes examination and their certifications.

PART-A
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS (PLEASE READ IN DETAIL)
1. This prospectus is divided into 3 parts:
Part-A Pertains to the general procedure for applying to admission, submission of admission
application/counseling form, deposition of fee, important instructions, joining, etc and
demonstration of steps for applying online application form and filling online
choices/preference of course/college/quota during online counseling.
Part-B Pertains to Punjab Govt. Notifications/corrigendum issued from time to time for
admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
2. Candidates must strictly follow the instructions laid out in the Prospectus and University website.
Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be disqualified.
3. This prospectus is subject to alteration(s) / modification(s) at any time without notice. Please visit
University website from time to time. Admissions including Eligibility to MBBS/BDS Courses shall
be governed and regulated as per the rules and regulations etc, as per Punjab Govt. notifications.
4. Instructions in this prospectus are liable to change based on decision(s) taken by the Punjab
Government/University from time to time. There is no equity or any rights that are/or deemed to
be arising in favour of candidate.
5. The candidate should read the eligibility condition carefully. Mere submission of application for
admission/counseling does not entitle him/her for admission. Eligibility conditions for admissions
are given in the Notification. The eligibility shall be determined by the Selection
Committee/Principal of concerned college at the time of counseling/admission. Those who are not
eligible as per Punjab Govt. notification will not be considered for admission. Eligibility is also
subject to medical fitness and such criteria as may be prescribed by the Punjab Government/
University/Medical institutions/ National Medical Commission/Dental Council of India.
6. Candidate’s eligibility is purely provisional & subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria as
Punjab Government Notification incorporated in this prospectus.
7. Applications of candidates producing false or fabricated information shall not be considered and
candidates shall be further debarred from participating in any future Counseling conducted by
BFUHS, Faridkot.
8. Any attempt by a candidate to influence directly or indirectly any person concerned with the
admission process will lead to disqualifications of the candidate.
9. Distribution of seats will be as per Punjab Govt. Notification, the list of eligible colleges/seats may
increase/decrease, subject to the orders of Hon'ble Courts/NMC/DCI/Govt. The final position of
seats will be displayed at the time of counselling.
10. Seat matrix process shall be available on the university website at the time of filling
options/preferences College/Quota/Category for online counseling.
11. The admission for MBBS/BDS courses shall be made only to those institutions which have
permission from all of the concerned authorities and affiliated with the University.

13. The fee structure for the Government/Privately managed colleges is as per Punjab Government
notification(s) for MBBS/BDS courses. If Punjab Government issues any subsequent
amendment/corrigendum for change in fee structure, the same will be applicable in letter and
spirit.
14. In case of any discrepancy or contradiction between the Government notification/s and The
University instructions contained in this Prospectus, the letter and spirit of the notification(s) shall
be prevailing, however in academic matters the University shall be the final Authority.
15. Deposition of fee does not confirm the admission of the candidate, if it is challenged in the Hon'ble
Court.
16. Changes, if any, in the Schedule / Counseling etc. shall be notified only through website of the
University i.e. www.bfuhs.ac.in
17. The allotment of College to the applicants for admission, shall be made as per merit determined
on the basis of NEET-UG-2020 and the choice of the station opted by the candidate at the time of
online counseling.
18. This is for the information of all candidates that as per Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, if any
incident of ragging comes to the notice of the authority, the concerned student shall be given
liberty to explain and if his explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel
him/her from the institution.
21. Notwithstanding the participation of candidates in counselling, only eligible candidates, as per
Government notification(s), shall be considered for admission.
22. Candidates applying under any of the reserve category are directed to fill the right category code
mentioned in this prospectus for claiming reservation under a category and also bring/attach all
relevant documents/proof of respective category with admission application form and

photocopies and original documents at the time of counseling/admission.
23. Instructions for NRI Candidates only:- Candidates who wants to apply under NRI quota seats, have
to obtain provisional Eligibility/equivalency certificate from BFUHS, Faridkot and will have to
qualify NEET-UG-2020 and candidates will apply on prescribed proforma available on website
along with prescribed fee for seats under NRI Quota.
24. Annexures at Page no-48 & Page no-70 are compulsory for all the candidates applying for
admission.

admissions/dates of counselling from time to time.
ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS:
1. The admission to MBBS/BDS Courses shall be open to candidates who have qualified NEET-UG-
2020 and eligible as per Punjab Govt. notifications and subsequent
amendment(s)/corrigendum(s) and as well as Punjab Govt. Personnel Department letter dated
06.06.1996.
2. Merely applying for admission to MBBS/BDS courses on the basis of NEET-UG-2020 will not
entitle the Candidates eligible, eligibility and Merit of a candidate for admission will be
determined by the Admission Committee strictly as per rules and regulations laid down in the
Punjab Govt. Notification(s) as published in this prospectus and all other such documents as are
required with the ADMISSION APPLICATION FORM.
3. Counseling/Admissions shall be conducted by the Admission Committee constituted by the
Punjab Government for this purpose.
4. Age: As specified in NEET-UG 2020.

Step-I SUBMISSION OF ONLINE ADMISSION APPLICATION FORM
1. Candidates should read the Punjab Govt. notification and instructions as contained in the Prospectus
carefully on University website i.e. www.bfuhs.ac.in.
2. Only NEET-UG-2020 qualified candidates are eligible to apply for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
3. Candidates are required to register themselves for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses through online
portal by due date and time.
4. Candidates are advised to fill the online admission application form well in advance to avoid the
network congestion in the last days. BFUHS will not be responsible for network congestion/problems.
No request for accepting the forms after cut-off date will be entertained.
Note: Applications not complying with these instructions or with unclear photographs are liable to be
rejected.
7 After completion of filling online admission application form, University will issue a unique Registration
ID (i.e. Login ID) and password to the candidate at his/her registered Mobile number through SMS/
email
8 Merely submission of online application form & fee does not confer any right to the candidate secure a
seat for MBBS/BDS course.
9 No request for submitting online Admission Application Form after due date/time will be entertained on
any ground.
10 Candidate shall submit online ADMISSION APPLICATION FORM only once. Applications submitted more
than once are liable to be rejected.
11 Candidates are required to fill online Admission Application Form very carefully and should not leave
any column blank, fill '0' (zero) in case of Roll Number/Rank/Marks are not available. However, a PDF
file pertaining to steps for submission of online Admission Application Form will be uploaded on the
University website (if required).
12 After filling of successful online Admission Application Form, candidate has to deposit the fee through
online payment gateway of University.
Step-II Deposition of Fee:- Candidates will have to deposit the fee through online payment gateway of
University.
(a) Registration for admission to MBBS/BDS courses is to be undertaken online at the
University website www.bfuhs.ac.in.
(b) Application form for admission to MBBS/BDS courses submitted offline/printed copy shall
not be accepted.

(c) Incomplete application forms shall not be considered and are liable to be rejected. The
fee shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
(d) The allotment of College to the applicants for admission, shall be made as per merit
determined on the basis of NEET-UG-2020 and the choice of the station opted by the
candidate at the time of online counseling.
13. Candidates must strictly follow the instructions laid out in the Prospectus and University
website. Candidates not complying with the instructions shall be disqualified.
14. Fill category carefully in the online Admission Application Form. Category once claimed will not
be changed in any case after submitting the form.
Those candidates, who do not fill/claim any category code as per prospectus or fill a wrong category
code other than mentioned in prospectus, will be treated as Open/General Category candidate. The
candidate may select a category code from the codes given below and fill the category accordingly.
More than one category may be filled by a candidate if it is considered applicable in the candidate's
particular case. Category codes are exclusively for the purpose of facilitating the candidates to know and
understand his/her respective merit placement at the time of counseling in various reserved categories
as have been filled by him/her. Reserve category selection on the part of the candidate shall not in any
case be construed to give him/her any legitimacy or right or claim on the benefits for reserved seats
during admission. Claims to admissions against reserved seats in MBBS/BDS courses will be on the basis
of appropriate claims made in the Admission Application Form subject to rules and regulations
contained in the Punjab Government Notifications printed in the Part-B of this prospectus and as per
the decisions of the Selection Committee constituted for this purpose by the Punjab Government. No
benefit of reservation whatsoever shall be given if the claim is not made in Admission Application Form.
15. After successful registration of the applicant, a unique Registration ID (i.e. Login ID) and
password will be allotted to the candidate at his/her registered mobile no. or email through
SMS or by email. Registration ID and password shall be required from time to time throughout
the process of admission, the candidates are therefore advised not to disclose it to any
unknown person and to keep it confidential.

2. After the verification of the documents and checking of eligibility, the candidate has to

1. The candidate must check the seat matrix of MBBS/BDS Courses, session 2020 before applying
for MBBS/BDS online counseling under NEET UG-2020.
2. When candidate clicks the link “Click here to apply for MBBS/BDS online counseling under
NEET UG-2020” on the homepage on the University website i.e. www.bfuhs.ac.in, the

“Password” in the window and click on the “Submit” icon as shown in the window displayed

4. After careful reading of instructions, the candidate shall tick the box displayed in front of the

8. After filling of admission application form (Step-I) candidate will click on the green icon i.e.
“Accept Declaration and Continue to Choice filling” as shown in window.
9. Candidate shall carefully read the option/choices in Step-II (as displayed in window at Image-
VI). After filling the course name “MBBS or BDS” followed by “Category and Quota” that the
candidate desires to apply for. Candidate shall now click on “Select Choice” icon. After filling
the choices in order of preferences, the candidate shall save the choices by clicking on “Save

I am directed to invite your attention to the Punjab Government Circular Letter No.1/3/95-3PP
II/2043, dated 29/1/1996 vide which the instructions were issued regarding simplification of
procedure for obtaining the certificate of Domicile for purposes of admission to educational
institutions (including technical/medical institution). The matter has been reconsidered in the light of
judgement delivered by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India in the case of Dr. Pradeep Jain Vs. Union
of India and others reported as AIR 1984-SC-4121 wherein it was held that instead of the word
'Domicile' the word 'Residence' be used in the instructions issued by the State Government on the
subject. Accordingly, it has been decided by the Government to revise the Government instructions
referred to above as under:

2. For the purposes of uniformity for issuing the certificate of Residence in the case of various
categories to be issued by the Competent Authorities, proforma have been prescribed which are
enclosed herewith. After careful consideration, it has also been decided to delete the D.T.O.
included among the certifying authorities against category (iv) & (vi) of the policy instructions
dated 29.01.1996.
