Team Shake is an app that teachers can store their class roster in which will generate
teams, partners, or groups whenever necessary. By using a board, it allows all students to see
who they will be working with at the beginning of each class and to ensure students are working
with different people each day. As you can see, this app is used every day which alleviates the
teacher from coming up with teams on a whim during class. Students know where the teams are
located every day and know what is expected of them as soon as they walk through the gym
doors.
Plickers
physically or intellectually in a lesson. Since Plickers uses a cell phone to scan the answers and
record data it makes it very easy for the teacher to use it after a class. Plickers is used twice in
this unit, once to see how students feel about Frisbee and their abilities and secondly to make
sure they understand the rules of Ultimate Frisbee which they will be playing on the final day of
the unit. If students feel uncomfortable with throwing the Frisbee or do now know the rules, it
will show the teacher that they need to review everything before moving on.
Laptop Use
To ensure all of the students learning styles are met, there are videos that I have created
and posted to my class website that anyone can access. These videos breakdown the skill of
throwing and catching a Frisbee which makes it easy for students to review it if they are
struggling. On day 2 of this unit, all students are accessing the videos so they get a quick
reminder on what they are doing and then will get right to work on practicing their throws with a
partner. By allowing students to use technology, it saves the teacher from explaining the same
thing 20 times to each student and also allows the students to be self-sufficient.
Video Recording
For the video editing assignment, students are to record a video using a recording device
and upload it to a program like Coach My Video. The students will be using their cellphones to
record the videos because I have found that students respect their own equipment but seem to not
care as much about school’s equipment. This means that they will take good care of their phones,
but if I gave them cameras to use in class they would leave them around outside and become
irresponsible and things would break. Students also should be familiar with taking pictures and
videos with their personal cellphones. Once the video is complete they can upload it straight to
Video Editing
One of the assignments this week is a video editing assignment where students are in a
small group and have to work together to edit their Frisbee throwing movements. They will use a
recording device and upload it to a software program like Coach My Video where they can
advance frame by frame and assess their skills. This will show what kind of technical skills my
students possess as well as engaging their mindset to see if they can depict the positives and
