System Unit
The system unit is the main part of a personal computer. It
includes the chassis, microprocessor, main memory, bus,
and ports, but does not include the keyboard or monitor, or
any peripheral devices.

Hard Drive
It is the computer's main storage media device that
permanently stores all data on the computer.

Power Supply Unit or PSU

The component that supplies power to a computer.

Motherboard
The main circuit board of a microcomputer. The
motherboard contains the connectors for attaching
additional boards.

CPU
It is the brains of the computer where most calculations
take place. In terms of computing power, the CPU is the
most important element of a computer system.

RAM
A type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly;
that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without
touching the preceding bytes.

Nothernbridge
The northbridge is an integrated circuit that is responsible for communications between
the CPU interface, AGP, and the memory. Unlike the Southbridge the Northbridge is directly
connected to these components and acts like a "bridge" for the Southbridge chip to communicate
with the CPU, RAM, and graphics controller.

Southernbridge
it communicates with the CPU, RAM, and graphics
controller.

Chips
It is a small silicon semiconductor crystal consisting of the
necessary electronic components to implement various
gates.

BIOS Battery
BIOS memory refers to a
small memory on PC motherboards that is used to
store BIOS settings.

Ports
It is a connection socket on a computer system that
provides access to an I/O bus or controller. types of
ports:Serial port : for external modems and old computer
mice
Parallel port : connector for scanners and printers
Universal Serial Bus (USB) port : a new universal connector
PS/2 port : keyboard and mouse interface
Video card port : a video port for your monitor
Power port : for your power plug
Modem port : connect by phone to the Internet
Ethernet network port : connect to a network and high speed Internet

PCI
It is an abbreviation for Peripheral Component
Interconnect, which is a term used to describe a common
connection interface for attaching computer peripherals to
a PC's motherboard, or main circuit board.
Most often, a PCI slot is used to connect sound and
network cards. PCI used to commonly connect video
cards.

VGA
A Video Graphics Array (VGA) connector is a three-row
15-pin DE-15 connector provides 640 x
480 resolution colour display screens with a refresh rate
of 60Hz and 16 colours displayed at a time.

Fan
A computer fan is any fan inside, or attached to,
a computer case used for active cooling, and may refer to
fans that draw cooler air into the case from the outside,
expel warm air from inside, or move air across a heat
sink to cool a particular component.

Cables
Alternatively referred to as a cord, connector or plug,
a cable is one or more wires covered in a plastic covering
that connects a computer to a power source or other
device.

Ethernet cable
It connects network devices such as modems, routers, and adapters.
They transmit data using the Ethernet protocol.

Cache
It is a small, temporary memory that the processor uses for information that is likely to need again
in the near future.

ROM
Read-only memory, computer memory on which data has
been prerecorded. Once data has been written onto a
ROMchip, it cannot be removed and can only be read.

CD ROM
Short for Compact Disc-Read Only Memory, CD-
ROM drives or optical drives are CD players inside
computers that can have speeds in the range from 1x and
beyond, and have the capability of playing audio CDs and
computer data CDs.

Heatsink
A component designed to lower the temperature of an
electronic device by dissipating heat into the surrounding
air.
