1. UNIQUE ERP CORE SUPPLIER (ORACLE)

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne can be defined as an integrated suite of applications that


leverages automation and Internet of Things (IoT) to streamline business processes
and optimize the supply chain. It’s for small, medium and large sized businesses in
the consumer goods, manufacturing, distribution, asset intensive, project and
services industries.

It provides capabilities related to financial management, supply chain management,


customer relationship management, human capital management, manufacturing,
reporting and more. It can deploy on the cloud or on-premises.

It collects real-time data and creates visualizations to make insight gathering easier.
It has an emphasis on real-time visibility and allows the user to see how products are
moving through the supply chain, live. Additionally, forecasting and budgeting
capabilities are integrated with the production process to help develop actionable
plans.
2. HISTORY:
"JD Edwards" was first founded in 1977 by Jack Thompson, Dan Gregory, and Ed McVaney. The
company's name are drawn from the initials "J" for Jack, "D" for Dan, and "Edwards" for Ed.
McVaney took a salary cut from $44,000 to $36,000 to ensure initial funding.

EnterpriseOne and World software in Oracle portfolio:


Oracle's JD Edwards products are referred to as JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and JD Edwards
World. Oracle announced that JD Edwards support would continue until a minimum of 2030.
Support for the older releases like the Xe product were to expire by 2013, spurring the
acceptance of upgrades to newer application releases. By 2015, the newest offering of
EnterpriseOne was application version 9.2, released October 2015. the newest version of World
(now with a web-based interface) was version A9.4, released in April 2015.
Shortly after Oracle's acquisition of PeopleSoft and JD Edwards in 2005, Oracle announced the
event of a replacement product called Oracle Fusion Applications. Fusion was designed to co-
exist or replace JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World, also as Oracle E-Business Applications
Suite and other products acquired by Oracle, and was finally released in September 2010.
Despite the discharge of Fusion apps, JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World remains sold and
supported by Oracle and runs numerous business worldwide.

The order management feature streamlines order processing while also


maintaining visibility and control of order tracking throughout the order lifecycle.

• Financial Management:

JD Edwards EnterpriseOne contains tools for accounts payable, accounts


receivable, fixed-asset management and tax management among other features
associated with financial management. For example, the fixed asset accounting
tool can automatically update asset information and develop budget projections
with none custom coding.

• Risk Management:

Risk and financial governance is available and can improve the reliability of
system financial management. The tool also unifies risk management and GRC
requirements across the entire company.

• Human capital Management (HCM):

This feature can produce a complete employee roster, assist in decision making
and provide insight on managing the workforce. These basic needs are met by
accessible real-time data visualizations that assist in productive business
processes.

Some of the limitations of JD Edwards EnterpriseOne include lack of support for
particular languages, complexity and rule compliance. Here are some of the specific
constraints of this software that you might want to take into account before making
a software selection.

Some of the product limitations include:

  Configuring the system for a specific role-based function is complex 

  Does not provide any social media tools 

  Does not support South-East Asian languages 

  Does not comply with local accounting rules/reporting for countries like
Israel. A third-party package may be required
