COSMA HISTORY
• Our founder, Shri Satish Kazi (Founder President and Chairman
Emeritus) had experienced that Control Panel Manufacturers were
meeting only at customers’ premises.

• Quite often, it was generating a feeling of animosity among those (Immediate Past
President)
competing for the order. (2009-2016)
• In order to overcome this evil feeling, Mr. Kazi along with Late Mr.
Asim Mazumdar, Mr. Kamlakar Phadke, and Mr. Navin Shah decided
to form an Association and named it as “Control Panel &
Switchgear Manufacturers’ Association” (COSMA). That was on
1st April 1988.
• Over the years, the Association has grown and spread to 16 states
of India and Union Territories with over 400 Members, who have
become friendly competitors and are learning and growing together D. R. Rao
as a large family. (Past President)

COSMA ACTIVITIES
• Technical seminars jointly with manufacturers of Switchgear and other
products on a regular basis. This helps members to gain technical
knowledge and also interact with manufacturers and among themselves.
• Training programs, factory visits, and workshops in technical and design Chetan Dharia
engineering, quality assurance for members. (Vice President)
• Bi-annual Award Functions to recognize and honour eminent persons

from the electrical industry, for their outstanding contributions.
• COSMA publishes a special edition of COSMA NEWS at every
ELECRAMA and sends it to its members and electrical fraternity, on a
complimentary basis. At present, a large number of copies are circulated
with a readership of over 10,000.
• COSMA is also associated with events organized by IEEMA, IMC, FICCI,
CII, IGBC, BIA, BMA, EMA, and ECAM.
• COSMA has plans to organize soft skills, human training, management,
and ISO workshops and other activities in the course of time. Shriram Joshi

COSMA MEMBERSHIP POLICY - SWG MFG
• If the Company is manufacturing any item of Switchgear Category, he
can become Life Member of COSMA.
• One time Fee : Rs 15,000 if his Annual Turn Over is below Rs. 20 Cr.
• If his Annual Turnover is above Rs. 20 Cr, then One time fee payable
is Rs 20,000 and he will be a Patron Member.

COSMA MEMBERSHIP POLICY –
MFG Allied Products apart from Switchgear
• If the supplier is a manufacturer of any item other than
Switchgear that goes into Control Panels, he qualifies to
become a Member of COSMA in the Category AMM
“Associated Member Manufacturing”.
• He pays Rs 2000 Entrance Fee and 12,500 as Annual fee or 5
years. Granting Membership is at the discretion of COSMA’s
Board of Directors.
• So the aspiring Member will send Membership Application form
to COSMA’s office.
• COSMA BOARD will scrutinise the form and convey eligibility to
the Applicant or Member who has introduced the Applicant.
• After 5 years, Applicant will have to reapply. He does not pay
admission fee again.

MEMBERSHIP POLICY - DEALER
• Similarly, if the Applicant is not a manufacturer but an Authorised

Agent of Items which go into manufacture of Control Panels, he will
be eligible to become a Member under category AMT “Associated
Member Trading”.
• All other terms will be same as AMM.
