POSITIVE PRESSURE - EMERGENCY ESCAPE

BREATHING APPARATUS

The Centre of Excellence for

Design, Technology and Manufacture
FAST~cowl
The FAST-cowl is a positive pressure, self-contained,
open circuit, compressed air Emergency Escape Breathing
Apparatus (EEBA).
Instantly activated when the cowl is deployed from the carrying bag, the head harness
automatically inflates at the same time as purging the cowl of any traces of hazardous
gas. With rapid and simple donning in less than 5 seconds, placing the face mask onto
the face immediately creates a seal which automatically deflates the self-tensioning
head harness and switches the demand valve regulator to positive pressure breathing.
