    invoke all kinds
    of animal
    species, native
    and strange, are
    cause for
    laughter and
    fright; African
    blacks; big heads;
    insane; dolls;
    mythological
    beings, who
    transcend the
    limits of sexuality
    and Death,
    among an almost
    endless number
    of inventions and
    popular
    occurrences.

    celebrated. Barranquilla
    Carnival is the
    most important
    folkloric and
    cultural event in

    Ash and ends

    Barranquilla
    carnival date
    from the 19th

    What In the four days


    people that the
    wear. Barranquilla
    Carnival lasts,
    there are
    moments
    expected by all,
    and depending on
    the day the
    visitors and
    groups dress up,
    such as the Battle
    of Flowers, which
    consists of a
    parade of floats,
    groups, groups of
    dances and
    costumes. All this
    is presided over
    by the Carnival
    Queen, who
    dances and
    throws flowers at
    the spectators,
    while she is
    accompanied by
    a court of princes
    and princesses.
    Something that
    makes the Battle
    of the Flowers
    very special is
    that it is animated
    by the most
    important
    characters.
    Traditional
    Carnival
    mythology, such
    as King Momo,
    María Moñitos
    and El Hombre
    Caimán, which
    add flavor and
    rhythm so that
    you can enjoy this
    event to the
    fullest. Another
    key moment of
    the Barranquilla
    Carnival is, of
    course, its
    closure, in which
    Joselito Carnaval,
    the most
    representative
    character of the
    party and the joy
    of the Caribbean
    coast, is
    symbolically
    buried and all
    visitors dress in
    mourning at his
    funeral, Joselito is
    mourned and
    symbolically
    buried by happy
    widows who
    celebrated the
    best of Carnival
    with him.

    people do. enjoy carnival
    every day, they
    go out to the
    streets to
    accompany and
    enjoy the different
    parades and daily
    celebrations while
    the carnival lasts,
    at night they
    attend different
    events, among
    which are
    concerts with
    national and
    international
    artists. , they
    decorate their
    houses in a
    carnival way.
    Why it is a
    special The Barranquilla
    celebration. Carnival is a very
    important folkloric
    and cultural
    festival for the
    country. Every
    year it celebrates
    the emblematic
    expressions of
    the identity of
    Barranquilla, its
    people and the
    Colombian
    Caribbean. In
    2003 it was
    declared a
    Masterpiece of
    the Oral and
    Intangible
    Heritage of
    Humanity and in
    2008 as
    Intangible Cultural
    Heritage by
    Unesco.
