    Project Work/Internship Experience: 


    ● Remote Research Intern, ANEN Group, IIT Madras May 2020 - Present 
    Working under Dr. Tiju Thomas on ​GULP-based molecular dynamics​ simulation of a doped cerium (IV) 
    oxide system. The project aims to calculate the energy required for the formation of oxygen vacancies 
    using the ​Mott-Littleton Method​ for various dopants (Eu, Cr, V, La etc.) across different extents of doping. 
    Also working on ​DFT calculations​ of ​band structure​ for transition metal oxide systems using ​Quantum 
    Espresso​. This is in order to augment materials selection for supercapacitors.  
    ● Winter Research Intern, ANEN Group, IIT Madras December 2019 - January 2020 
    Worked under Dr. Tiju Thomas on cerium oxide, nitride and metal oxynitride nanostructures suitable for 
    supercapacitor electrodes. Collected ​200 data points​ across ​12 parameters​ (specific capacitance, current 
    density, substrate, morphology, specific surface area, etc.) through an extensive survey of existing 
    literature. Used this data to build ​Artificial Neural Network​ models (TensorFlow with Keras) to predict the 
    specific capacitance​ values of cerium oxynitride nanostructures, proving it to be an excellent candidate 
    material for supercapacitors. 
    ● Project: Nitrogen-Doped Mesoporous Carbon from Palm Flowers  May 2017 - June 2017 
    Worked at IIT Madras, under Dr. G Ranga Rao. Synthesised nitrogen-doped carbon from a biomass 
    source (palm flower, indigenous to South India) with melamine as the nitrogen precursor. Operated 
    tubular furnaces, autoclaves, centrifugation machines​ during synthesis using a ​chimie douce​ approach. 
    Characterised samples produced using ​XRD a ​ nd ​IR spectroscopy​ and interpreted spectra to confirm the 
    efficacy of techniques used.

    with past speakers such as Nobel laureates (Dr. Ada Yonath, Nobel laureate in chemistry) and 
    trailblazers in the technology industry (Alexis Ohanian, co-founder, Reddit). Also responsible for 
    conducting Crossfire, a yearly panel discussion on relevant global issues.

    including the website and LinkedIn page, to ensure maximum reach.

    Responsible for​ ​shortlisting, contacting, and finalising a speaker with an inspiring, unique idea at 
    TEDxNITTrichy, then discussing with the speaker and curating their talk, facilitating audience impact. 
    Also responsible for acting as the SPOC for them throughout the process.
