    1. This document provides guidelines for checking a student's blood glucose levels and responding appropriately based on the results and how the student feels. 2. If the level is below 70, the student should be given a fast-acting sugar source and retested after 10 minutes; if still low, more sugar should be given and the nurse notified. 3. If between 70-180 and the student feels okay, they can resume activities with additional treatment as ordered. If feeling low, retest immediately and treat accordingly. 4. If a student becomes unconscious or has seizures, call 911, turn them on their side, and give glucose or glucagon if ordered. Notify the nurse and parents.
