Structure-borne vibration isolation www.farrat.com

Farrat’s range of multi purpose Anti-Vibration Materials can be used in all areas of construction to reduce structure-borne
vibration across a wide frequency range. Our complete confidence in the material properties and performance is based on
thorough lab testing as well as extensive, long term experience of use in a variety of scenarios.

Applications: Structural bearings, resilient seatings, floating floors, mezzanine floor isolation, steelwork isolation, acoustic
windposts, stairwell isolation, thermal bridging isolation etc.

Construction: Produced from high quality materials, they are highly ozone resistant, demonstrate very low levels of
creep and are designed to last the lifetime of the structure. They conform to building material class B2.

Hamamat, Neoprene, Nitrile & Natural are manufactured by Farrat and supplied in 1000 x 500mm sheets.
FAVIM is supplied in 1250 x 1000mm sheets & VIDAM in 1000 x 1000mm sheets all of which can be cut to fit on site, or
alternatively delivered in pre-cut strips or pads with holes and slots included as necessary. Internal steel plates can also be
added as reinforcement to enable higher loadings.

All materials are delivered with instructions and clear labelling to ensure correct placement on site.

Floating Floors www.farrat.com

Farrat’s floating floor systems have been developed to provide high levels of acoustic and vibration performance
whilst being economical, easy and quick to install. They can be used in a vast array of applications including: cinemas,
performing arts facilities, bowling alleys, instrument / nanotechnology facilities etc.

Farrat can advise on the most suitable type and grade of floating floor system and provide full specification, predicted natural
frequencies, damping ratios, layout drawings, installation instructions and if necessary site installation or supervision.
Please contact Farrat for specific datasheets and proposals.

Construction: Farrat Neoprene isolators with or without mineral wool acoustic
insulation are attached to connectable 2.4 x 1.2m plywood sheets.
Farrat Isofoam acts as sidewall isolation. A damp proof membrane (Dpm) is
laid on top and the floating floor slab can then be cast.

FAVIM—Full Area
The whole or part of the area is covered with Farrat’s recycled
elastomeric matting which can be laid directly onto a concrete
or consolidated hardcore base. Wooden floors can be laid directly
onto the FAVIM or with the addition of a damp-proof membrane
(Dpm), a concrete floor can be cast. Ideal for bowling alleys etc.

The Jack-Up mounts are arranged with equal spacing in between the reinforcement of the
to be cast slab. When the concrete is poured, the mounts are cast into slab and the whole
system can be jacked up to max 100mm air gap & precision levelled.

System natural frequency can be tuned to suit the application in the range 6 to12 Hz

Thermal Break Connection Plates www.farrat.com

Thermal Break Connection Plates TBG / TBN

Thermal barrier plates used between internal & external
steelwork (cantilevered beams & balconies etc) to prevent
thermal / cold bridging.

TBG and TBN plates can make a significant contribution

to meeting Part L of the building requirements.

U-Value example:
200 x 200mm interface with 4 x M20 bolt-through
connections, the U value for a 25mm thick TBG
connection plate = 1.66 W/K.

Oil and moisture resistant and asbestos free, they have

a maintanance free service lifetime in excess of 50 years
and are rugged enough to withstand rough handling
during installation.

TBG 300 is produced from glass reinforced polyester resin.

TBN 260 is produced from polyamide with molybdenum

disulphide particles (Nylatron).

Isolated Foundations

Low Frequency Vibration Isolation Plinth

Rotating and vibration creating machinery and equipment mounted on suspended
floors can cause severe vibration transmission problems when the disturbing
frequencies resonate with the floor natural frequency. A solution to this problem
involves mounting the equipment on a concrete plinth (to increase system mass)

aa
which in turn is supported on Farrat low frequency coil spring isolators
(See Farrat Cat 2.07). Farrat can provide application advice and proposals.

Examples: HVAC, Gensets, Pumps, Industrial washing machines.

For higher frequency and general purpose plinth mounted applications ISOMAT or
FAVIM elastomeric isolation can be used. See Farrat Cat 4.07

aa Fig 7.3

Isolated Foundations
Farrat boasts significant experience in the specification & supply of
these specialised systems for structural isolation & isolated foundations
for machinery.

If given the nature of the problem or the expected problem,

Farrat can provide technical / design advice and develop appropriate
solutions. Full specifications, predicted natural frequencies, damping ratios,
layout drawings and installation instructions would all be incorporated.
If necessary site installation or supervision can be provided.

Please contact Farrat for further literature (Cat 4.07) or information.
