Structure-borne vibration isolation www.farrat.com
Farrat’s range of multi purpose Anti-Vibration Materials can be used in all areas of construction to reduce structure-borne
vibration across a wide frequency range. Our complete confidence in the material properties and performance is based on
thorough lab testing as well as extensive, long term experience of use in a variety of scenarios.
Applications: Structural bearings, resilient seatings, floating floors, mezzanine floor isolation, steelwork isolation, acoustic
windposts, stairwell isolation, thermal bridging isolation etc.
Construction: Produced from high quality materials, they are highly ozone resistant, demonstrate very low levels of
creep and are designed to last the lifetime of the structure. They conform to building material class B2.
Hamamat, Neoprene, Nitrile & Natural are manufactured by Farrat and supplied in 1000 x 500mm sheets.
FAVIM is supplied in 1250 x 1000mm sheets & VIDAM in 1000 x 1000mm sheets all of which can be cut to fit on site, or
alternatively delivered in pre-cut strips or pads with holes and slots included as necessary. Internal steel plates can also be
added as reinforcement to enable higher loadings.
All materials are delivered with instructions and clear labelling to ensure correct placement on site.
Detailed, technical data sheets are available on request or from the website: www.farrat.com.
HAMAMAT (HM) High strength & stiff damping material for highly loaded interfaces.
Thicknesses 2, 6, 15, 25mm
Max loading pressure 6 N/mm2 (MPa)
Irhd Shore A 90
Construction High grade nitrile (NBR) rubber re-inforced with microscopic cotton & polyester fibres.
NEOPRENE (CR) High performance vibration damping material with self extinguishing / fire resisant properties.
(Polychloropene) It is highly resistant to ozone aging, oxygen, weathering, heating and chemical products.
Thicknesses 6, 12, 25mm
Max loading pressure 0.4-1.5 N/mm2 (MPa)
Irhd Shore A 40, 60, 80
Construction High quality neoprene (Polychloropene) rubber in various grades.
FAVIM (FVM) Environmentally friendly isolation material ideally suited to full area vibration
isolation such as under bowling alleys, railways and railway platforms.
Thicknesses 12.5, 25, 50mm
Max loading pressure 0.003-0.2 N/mm2 (MPa)
Irhd Shore A n/a
Construction Recycled rubber particles with a polyurethane binder. Various grades available.
VIDAM (VM) General purpose vibration damping material used extensively in HVAC
applications as an economical vibration isolation solution.
Thicknesses 6, 10, 13, 20, 25, 50mm
Max loading pressure 0.5 N/mm2 (MPa)
Irhd Shore A 65
Construction High grade nitrile rubber & granulated cork.
NATURAL (NR) Natural Rubber Structural bearings offer high resilience for efficient vibration isolation of buildings
and other structures. Natural Rubber exhibits very low creep but must be protected from ozone and
hydrocarbon fluids. NR Structural Bearings are generally individually designed for each application.
Thicknesses 10, 15, 25mm
Max loading pressure 0.5-2 N/mm2 (MPa), up to 6 N/mm2 (MPa) with steel interleaves.
Irhd Shore A 40, 60, 70, 80
Construction High quality natural (NR) rubber in various grades.

Floating Floors www.farrat.com
Farrat’s floating floor systems have been developed to provide high levels of acoustic and vibration performance
whilst being economical, easy and quick to install. They can be used in a vast array of applications including: cinemas,
performing arts facilities, bowling alleys, instrument / nanotechnology facilities etc.
Farrat can advise on the most suitable type and grade of floating floor system and provide full specification, predicted natural
frequencies, damping ratios, layout drawings, installation instructions and if necessary site installation or supervision.
Please contact Farrat for specific datasheets and proposals.

Elastomeric Isolators with Formwork Shuttering
Construction: Farrat Neoprene isolators with or without mineral wool acoustic
insulation are attached to connectable 2.4 x 1.2m plywood sheets.
Farrat Isofoam acts as sidewall isolation. A damp proof membrane (Dpm) is
laid on top and the floating floor slab can then be cast.

FAVIM—Full Area
The whole or part of the area is covered with Farrat’s recycled
elastomeric matting which can be laid directly onto a concrete
or consolidated hardcore base. Wooden floors can be laid directly
onto the FAVIM or with the addition of a damp-proof membrane
(Dpm), a concrete floor can be cast. Ideal for bowling alleys etc.
