Introduction
Packet Tracer is a proprietary tool of Cisco. It is used to create and simulate network virtually. It
gives same environment virtually as it exists physically. You can work on all devices virtually as
you would work on them physically. This tool provides all types of network devices to create
real time working network and also provides same interface as if you are working on real device.
Objectives
Cable a network according to the given topology diagram.
Assign IP addresses.
Configure Routers to enable inter-router connection.
Test and verify configurations.
Reflect upon and document the network implementation
Experiment Procedure
1. Run Packet tracer program on your computer.
2. From end devices click and drop two routers 1841 and one router 2811.
3. Now place four PT switches according to the topology.
4. Select and place, two PCs from end devices, adjacent to the switches.
5. Use auto-connect to connect switches with corresponding PCs.
6. Also use auto-connect to connectswitch and router.
7. Before you start connecting routers to one another, you will have to insert a WAN Interface
Card (WIC-1T) into the routers.
8. Click on a router, turn-off the router.
9. In physical tab, scroll down to locate WIC-1T on the left side.
10. A network card similar to a serial connector will appear at the lower right side of the
screen.
11. Drag and drop WIC-1T at a blank rectangular location on the physical device view.
12. Turn on the router again.
13. Repeat steps 8 – 12 for the second 1841 router.
14. Now click on router 2811.
15. Turn off the router.
16. Locate WIC-1T at the left side of the physical tab window.
17. Drag and drop two WIC-1T connectors in the physical view.
18. Now auto-connect the switches with one another according to the given topology.
