SECTION A: COMPULSORY

QUESTION 1: (40 MARKS)

(a) Describe and illustrate with diagrams the Anthropocentric and Eco-centric
sustainability models in terms of economic, socio-cultural and environmental
sustainability. (10 marks)

(b) Describe briefly what is meant by Corporate Sustainability. (5 marks)

(c) Differentiate between shareholder and stakeholder capitalism (8 marks)

(d) What is Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and why is it important?

(e) Briefly describe three (3) ways how CSR is being applied in corporate
bodies in Mauritius. (9 marks)

(a) (i) Describe a typical corporate structure in terms of shareholders, managers
and stakeholders. (5 marks)

(ii) What is the main difference between Stakeholder theory and Agency
theory on the role of managers? (3 marks)

(b) A corporate body is made up of varying categories of personnel, operating at


various levels with different responsibilities and rights. Describe six (6) points
you will take into consideration while drafting the code of ethics to be
implemented in your organisation. (12 marks)

(c) There are two opposing principles guiding the operation of corporate bodies:

(1) the “business of business is business” principle and

(2) the “social contract” principle.

(b) What is Whistle Blowing? Identify three (3) ways by which an organization
can prevent itself from going to the extent of whistle blowing?

(c) Discuss enlightened self-interest and Adam Smith’s justification of self-


interest in business. (10 marks)

(d) Differentiate between teleological and deontological approaches in Ethics.

report? What does sustainability reporting by the Global Reporting Initiative

(b) Briefly describe what are the vision statement, mission statement,
objective, and strategy of an organization. (10 marks)

(c) You are a major stakeholder in a large company. Identify five (5) measures
you will take in relation to environmental concerns and corporate
sustainability. (10 marks)
