STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
“Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” - Albert Einstein
I believe that these lines define my perspective about gaining knowledge. I have always liked to ponder
into the depths of the subjects that I relish. After a brief survey, I have come to the conclusion that the
forces driving the innovations in automation and mobile telecommunication are influenced by the
existence of intelligent Software.
My formal education began with the Sinhgad Public School, Lonavala, India.I completed my schooling
scoring a CGPA of 9.8. My affinity for Mathematics (scored 99 out of 100) led me to develop an interest
in Applied Mathematics and Physics. I chose Informatics Practices as a bifocal subject in the school.
During my 12 grade I got interested in Programming. I got acquainted with Java, HTML and MySQL in

Informatics practices. Using the fundamentals and basic principles that I gained during this course, I
developed a project on ‘online retail store’ application.
My Bachelor’s Program enabled me to explore courses of multiple disciplines. I have completed my

under-graduation with major in Electronics and Communication from Vishwakarma Institute of
Information Technology, an autonomous institute, affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. The
institution has been accredited with grade ‘A’ by NAAC, and NBA. This program had the optimum blend
of hardware and software concepts. Among the numerous subjects, I enjoyed studying Data Structures
and Algorithms, Object Oriented Programming concepts and Applied Mathematics the most. I attended
multiple courses in Applied Mathematics for calculus and statistical analysis. With hands on experience in
Dynamic Programming paradigms from the course of Data Structures, my interests in these subjects only
grew further, paving the path towards my ambitions in Masters in Computer Science.
During my undergraduate program, I have worked on two projects. My mini project -DC Wattmeter, a
DC power measurement device was aimed at measuring DC Power within a circuit. The device was
implemented using Microchip’s PIC18F452 microcontroller. A current sensor ACS712 was used to
measure the current in the circuit and a voltage divider network was used to sense the voltage. The power,
as a product of voltage and current, was displayed on a LCD panel. During the course of the project, I
acquired technical skills in Embedded C Programming and PCB Designing.
My Major project titled “Table Top Visible IR Spectrometer” was a mechanically stable stand alone
optical system which could disperse white light into its component wavelength in order to study
properties of synthesized material. This project was sponsored by TIFR (Tata Institute of Fundamental
Research, Mumbai). The three major modules of project- xenon arc lamp (source of light), stepper motor
and optical chopper were controlled using single dsPIC microcontroller. The selection of microcontroller
was challenging since controlling all three modules required microcontroller to generate pulses of
different frequencies simultaneously.After lot of research and comparison of various microcontrollers we
selected dsPIC microcontroller. The xenon arc lamp requires current feedback circuit to control current
through lamp.The current feedback circuit was designed and I presented paper on the same at
NCSEEE’16 - a national level Paper Presentation Conference.This project helped me to develop skills in
C Programming and MATLAB.
I have published a Research Paper on “Tracing objects using HC05 Bluetooth and GPS” in the Journal
of Harmonized Research in Engineering (ISSN: 2347-7393). This has led me to understand the concerned
concepts from a deeper perspective.
In order to evolve my personality beyond academics, I indulged myself in extracurricular activities.I

chaired as the Treasurer of IEEE Students’ Branch- VIIT from July 2014 to March 2015. I was
instrumental in carrying out the event ‘NCSEEE-15’- a national level Paper Presentation Conference.I
was a part of my College’s Technical Fest- Perception 15, executing the duties as Joint Publicity Head.
Leadership positions have helped me to refine my interpersonal skills, teamwork and develop my decision
making ability. I was a dance participant in Gandharva -2015. I have been a Blood Donor at NSS Blood
Donation.
To explore the vast expanses of the software field, I secured a job in Accenture Solutions Private Limited
where I have worked as application development associate for over a period of one year. During this
period I have worked on Microsoft web development. I have worked on cloud first development project
AQA (Assessment and Qualification Alliance), which is an awarding body in UK. The project required
me to understand the .net technology from its roots and it led me to consider upskilling myself in the same
domain. I learned C# and AngularJS. The project is hosted on Microsoft Azure cloud computing
platform.Working on this project has cemented not only my interests in the field of Computer Science but
my inclination to pursue a Master’s degree.
I wish to pursue Master of Sciences in Computer Science in order to hone my skills in the same domain.
With my upgraded skills and knowledge, I shall utilize everything that I learn in this program, in my
work, to commit myself to a better future.With my curiosity to learn something new, a master’s degree in
Computer Science from your revered University, will allow me to delve deep into such relevant courses
and hone my skills in the same direction. I wish to use the knowledge I shall learn during the program to
lay a foundation towards a career in research in Computer Science.
The University of Texas Dallas has state-of-the-art research facilities in the field of Computer
Science.The research areas such as Computer Systems and Intelligent Systems has intrigued me.The
coursework offered satisfies my interests in the field. The facilities of large network of computer
facilities, labs as well as other services provided by university are appealing factors.The internship
opportunities at the university are alluring.The faculty of department of computer science comprises of
eminent professors under whose guidance I can hone my skills and acquire knowledge.The University
also has various students organizations such as UTD GCS which deal with organizing academic and
social events and also many other activities.These organizations will further help me to develop my
interpersonal skills.
In conclusion, a master’s degree in computer science at your renowned university will prepare me for a
challenging career and the exposure that I will receive from your university will spur me onto bigger and
better things.
