    A Woman’s Career Weakens after Marriage and Kids

    One of the bitter realities of gender inequality in our societies is that men and women do

    not have an equal chance of ‘having it all.’ Women are still bound to the cruel choice of either

    having a career or family life. Most women ‘choose’ to get married and have children, but by

    doing that, they are jeopardizing their careers. That says much about gender discrimination itself.

    Women are so much more than just a mother, a wife, or a daughter. However, It is said that the

    more successful a woman is the less likely it is that she will find a husband and have children.

    Even if she does, she would not be fulfilling her duties to them properly and will eventually have

    to make a choice. Between women and men with children with the same professional

    capabilities, academic productivity, and personal characteristics, having children always

    negatively affects women. Whereas a man with children will be promoted over time because

    ideal jobs are structured around ideal male workers who are willing to relocate and travel on

    short notice. Someone whose primary commitment would be his job. On the other hand, women

    are bound by cultural, religious restrictions, marriage, and men themselves.

    Mothers in a workplace have to face more discrimination than non-mothers, they are less likely

    to be promoted and are always looked down on. One explanation for this difference is that

    becoming a mother lowers a woman’s status more at the workplace as they are seen as

    ‘disqualified’. Children and marriage have less role to play in this than people’s perspectives.

    In our societies, the purpose of marriage is defeated by gender roles (who does what). Men tend

    to make jobs their number one priority and women are bound to stick with house chores and

    childcare. Even if they want to share the half for finances, they are told to quit on their dreams

    and careers and be good wives/mothers. This lack of support restricts and limits them to only the

    upbringing of their children. Men who repress and deny the rights of their wives are more

    responsible for this.

    Equal responsibility for both the children and expenses is the key to a real marriage in which two

    people act as halves. Only then women capable of so much more would be able to avail each and

    every opportunity that befalls them.
