1. Defect Identification No. ‘e’ Side drill hole’s length dimension is observed to be less than
actual, the reason is complete length of SDH is not enclosed within full beam spread of
probe at that depth.
2. A standard -6 dB drop sizing technique is used in this validation process. The height
dimension for all induced defects were observed to be more than 50% of actual induced
height. All these slits, detected and measured to have more height as reported above
are very well falling in criteria of not acceptable as per approved procedure YEPL-NDE-
BYC-1 R3.

Conclusion:
This validation procedure is an evident proof, that full weld volume is getting covered with PAUT
technique used. All induced slits are detected and rejected with respect to acceptance criteria. The
standard 6 dB drop sizing technique is found to be very well suitable & stringent for our PAUT
procedure YEPL-NDE-BYC-1 R3
