    OFFICE BUILDING @ CHENNAI

    INTRODUCTION:
    ➢ A commercial development project proposed in Taramani,
    Chennai by DLF as “DLF Downtown Chennai”.

    ➢ Project consists of 26 acres of land which will be constructed in


    2 phases

    AIM:
    To design an office building with envelope design that reduces the
    energy consumption of the building.

    NEED:
    According to BEE report 2011, the energy consumption of office
    buildings operating 24 * 7 has an EPI of 349 which is very high for
    warm & humid zone. (Recommended EPI – 180 & below)

    OBJECTIVES:
    To incorporate the energy performance studies done in dissertation to
    the office building along with structural and other green strategies.

    SCOPE:
    Considering the future growth towards digital technology and
    supporting IT firms by Chennai corporation, DLF has come up with the
    proposal in Taramani.
    CASE STUDIES:
    1) DLF IT PARK, MANAPAKKAM, CHENNAI, INDIA.
    2) ADOBE SYSTEMS HEADQUARTERS, NOIDA, INDIA.
    3) GENZYME CORPORATION HEADQUARTERS, USA

    REQUIREMENTS:
    1) ADMINISTRATION SPACE
    2) LOUNGE
    3) WORK STATIONS
    4) SERVER ROOMS
    5) FOOD COURTS
    6) CONFERENCE ROOMS
    7) RECREATION SPACE
    8) SERVICES

    SITE:
    ➢ Site measuring 14 acres is located in Taramani, Chennai.
    ➢ The main road providing access to the site is Taramani Link
    Road. Site also has also an access from CSIR road on the
    northern side.
    ➢ Prominent buildings around the site include American school,
    NIFT, Ascendas, STPI etc.
    ➢ The site has a MRTS line running through it.
