1a: Students will articulate and set personal goals, develop strategies to leverage technology to
achieve them, and reflect on the learning process itself to improve learning outcomes.
Overarching Question: What are the basic needs for plants and animals?
☒ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or Choice”
during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.
☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is student-
driven. Students have “Voice and Choice” in the activities, selecting the topic of study and determining the
technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.
☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student work and
promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s morning
newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity:
The students will compare the basic needs of plants (air, water, light, and nutrients) and animals (air,
water, food, and shelter). The student will plan to help plants and or animals meet their needs
(providing water, shelter, light, food, etc.) changes.
Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):

Student Response and Assessment Tools
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☐ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):
If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (7-10). If you
cannot provide one or two critical thinking questions in your assessment, please list a question or two you
would want students to provide an open response to below. Use your Bloom’s terms to design the
question(s):
1. What do plants need to live? A) water B) Sunlight, air and water C) Sugar
2. What would a plant eat? A) fruit B) Insects C) water, insect, sunlight
3. Can plants and animals die with out air? A) yes B) no
4. What is it called when plants make energy? A) photosynthesis B) chlorophyll C) bugs
5. What do animals eat A) insects, and Plants B) Candy C) Bread
6.What do animals use food for? A) Fat B) Energy C) To stay warm
7. Did You enjoy this lesson? A) yes B) no
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? We will go over the whole test. I like to give my students feed back right away.
Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity? How will the data be used?
The data I collect will be shared with the students; we will go over the assessment together. I would not really
grade them it will be more for me seeing if they understood the content. If not, I can cater my instruction to
fit the students needs.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity. I will have living plants in the classroom and a class
pet to add to the experiences for the student. The students can monitor the needs of the plants and animal to
see what is necessary to help them thrive.
Reflective Practice: I feel good about the lesson idea. The students loved the game. They enjoy interactive
hand-on experiences. I will use this game and others again. This assessment gave me instant feedback. I use
this as a formative assessment. No grades given I just wanted to see students understanding.
