SATURDAY 2 APRIL TO CELEBRATE 100 YEARS OF THE
NEW FOREST POINT TO POINT
OVER A FIXED COURSE WITH THE FINISH AT OCKNELL
Assembly 10.00a.m. sharp at the meeting place adjacent to Canadian Cross. There will be a course
walk meeting at the same place on Sunday 27th March at 10.30 a.m. Any competitors walking or riding
the course at any other time will be disqualified from taking part.
Riders must be 16 years and over except for races 2 & 3. Veterans minimum age 55 years.
Children in race 2 must have attained the minimum age of 10 years by the closing date of entries. Please note that all competitors
must have been riding for at least 2 years and their ponies should have been hunted or colt hunted. Children’s tack will be
inspected, their girths will be checked and tack should be suitable and must be in safe condition before competing.
The starter will have the power to prevent any competitor from taking part who he considers to be out of control or dangerous.
NOTE all competitors must ride astride – no side saddles

Entries close Friday 18th March from bona-fide owners who must be
paid up members of the society

All ponies must be 5 years old or over and not known to be suckling a foal, nor may they be entered in more than one race.
All ponies must be registered New Forest Ponies except in races 1a, 6 & 7
.
Measuring. The society reserves the right to measure up to height animals in any race on race day. Ponies will be measured at
the assembly point, but society/JMB height certificates accepted. These height certificates for horses/ponies under the age of
seven will only be accepted if they have been measured within 12 months of the event i.e. permanent height certificates will only
be accepted for animals aged 7 and over. Half an inch will be allowed for shoes.
Passports must be available for inspection at meeting place. Anybody not producing a passport at the meeting place will
only be allowed to run if they pay a fine of £10 and they must also produce passports to society officials within 7 days.

Weights. Races 1 2 & 3 catchweights. Races 4 & 5 ponies 14.2 to carry 11st 7lb. Race 6 ponies 15hh to carry 11st 7lb. Race
7A ponies 15.2hh to carry 14st. 7lb allowance for each full inch under stated maximum height. Race 7B minimum weight 15st.
Competitors must supply own weights and skull caps. No more than 2 st deadweight to be carried in any race.
Skull Caps must be worn in all races. Long hair should be tied back. Body Protectors strongly recommended for adults and
compulsory for children. Suitable footwear with a heel must be worn in all races. No spurs or cutting whips allowed
.
Competitors must not gallop along roads nor cross fenced main roads. No pilots allowed. Competitors receiving guidance,
particularly via the use of mobile phones, especially at the start will be disqualified, they are only to be used in emergencies.
Objections must be lodged on completed objection forms with the secretary/stewards with £20.00 within 10 minutes of the
incident, fee returnable if upheld
Numbers obtainable on the day on payment of £1.00 refundable deposit. No competitor may take part in a race without their
number

SPECIAL NOTE;- In order to qualify for races 6 & 7, all ponies must have attended at least six of the official drifts in
2010 or hunted at least six times with the New Forest Hounds during season 2010/2011. These drifts should be listed on
the entry form before requesting their endorsement. A combination of drifts/hunts is NOT acceptable.
In races 4 – 7 all riders finishing in the first four places must ride directly to the clerk of the scales immediately after the
finish of their race to weigh in. On finishing, all competitors should ride to the designated weighing in area where their
mounts should remain until ready for loading and departure.
CUPS won must be returned in good condition by March 1st 2012 to Trudy Nineham,
Ford Farm Stables, Brockenhurst, Hants. SO42 7TB
NFPB & CS can take no responsibility for any injury or accident to any person
competing or otherwise who attend this event. All competitors agree to these
conditions by signing both the entry form and the rider declaration form.
SPRING RACES SCHEDULE
RACE 1a VETERANS. Ponies not to exceed 15hh. Riders 55 years and over. Warren Hill Rose
Bowl to the winner.
RACE 1b VETERANS. Registered New Forest ponies. Riders 55 years and over. Golby cup to
the winner. Prizes and entry fees in both sections £10,£6,£5,Entry fee £5
RACE 2 CHILDRENS RACE. Children not to have attained their 14th birthday by closing date
of entries. Warren Briscoe Trophy to the winner. Prizes £6,£4,£3, Entry fee £3. Memento to best
novice child (never to have won a 1st in NF Races)
RACE 3 CHILDRENS RACE. Children who have attained their 14th birthday, but not their
17th by closing date of entries. WTW Truck Hire Cup to winner. Prizes and entry fee as in race 2.

RACE 4 NOVICE NEW FOREST PONIES for New Forest ponies which have not won a
Registerd New Forest Pony Race. Ghost Cup to winner. Prizes and entry fee as race 1.
RACE 5 OPEN NEW FOREST PONIES Alf Newman Memorial Cup to the winner. Prizes
and entry fee as race 1. Special Rosette to best Young Commoner who turns out in their own name and
has attained the age of 16, but not the age of 30 before closing date of entries, young commoners
ponies must be ridden by the owner. Special form to be completed. Prizes and entry fees as race 1.
RACE 6 LADIES RACE. For ponies not exceeding 15hh. WTW Cup to winner. Prizes and
entry fee as race 1. To run with Race7 unless at least 4 entries forward on the day.
RACE 7A OPEN PONIES NOT EXCEEDING 15.2hh. Pipers Gold Cup to the winner
Prizes and entry fee as race 1. To run with Race 7B unless at least 4 entries forward on the day.
RACE 7B HEAVYWEIGHT RACE. Trophy to the winner. See special conditions. Minimum
weight to be carried 15 st. Minimum height 15.2hh. Prizes and entry fee as race 1. To run with Race 7A
unless at least 4 entries forward on the day.
RACE 8 NEW FOREST HOUNDS RACE. For horses 14.2hh and over that have hunted
with the New Forest Hounds at least 6 times during the 2010/11 season to be ridden by persons who
have paid a subscription to the New Forest Hounds for the 2010/11 season and are aged 16 & over.
Hunting Dress to be worn with skull caps as per rider declaration form. If more than 20 entries this
race will be divided.
