the
tournament

These
rules
are
accurate
as
of
March
1st
2011.
Section
1:
General
Rules
(all
sports)
A)
Personal
and
Team
Conduct
B) Game Lengths
1. A
cap
of
30
minutes
will
be
set
for
each
match.
2. Each
match
will
consist
of
the
best
two
out
of
three
games
with
each
game
being
played
to
21
(win
by
2).
C) Gameplay
1. A
rally
point
system
will
be
used.
Standard
table
tennis
rules
apply.
2. If
a
player
serves
or
receives
out
of
turn,
play
shall
be
interrupted
by
the
umpire
as
soon
as
the
error
is
discovered
and
shall
resume
with
those
players
serving
and
receiving
who
should
be
server
and
receiver
respectively
at
the
score
that
has
been
reached,
according
to
the
sequence
established
at
the
beginning
of
the
match
and,
in
doubles,
to
the
order
of
serving
chosen
by
the
pair
having
the
right
to
serve
first
in
the
game
during
which
the
error
is
discovered.
D) Service
1. To
decide
which
player
will
serve
first,
the
ball
will
be
hidden
by
the
umpire
in
one
hand
and
one
player
will
be
asked
to
guess
as
to
which
hand
is
the
ball
in.
The
winner
of
this
can:
-‐elect
to
serve
first
-‐make
his
opponent
serve
first
-‐decide
which
end
of
the
table
he
prefers
to
play
first.
2. If
the
winner
chooses
a
particular
end
of
the
table,
his
opponent
then
has
the
choice
of
whether
to
serve
first
or
to
make
his
opponent
serve
first.
3. If
the
winner
chooses
to
serve
first,
his
opponent
then
has
the
choice
of
which
end
of
the
table
he
prefers
to
play
at
first.
4. Service
shall
start
with
the
ball
resting
freely
on
the
open
palm
of
the
server's
stationary
free
hand.
5. The
server
shall
then
project
the
ball
near
vertically
upwards,
without
imparting
spin,
so
that
it
rises
at
least
16cm
after
leaving
the
palm
of
the
free
hand
and
then
falls
without
touching
anything
before
being
struck.
E)
Deuce
In
the
moment
of
a
deuce,
the game shall be won by the first player
subsequently gaining a lead of 2 points.
F) Defaults
1. If
a
player
fails
to
appear
on
court
within
five
minutes
past
the
scheduled
start
of
the
game,
they
will
default
the
game
to
the
opposition.
2. The
winning
player
in
a
defaulted
game
will
be
given
2
points
and
a
2-‐0
victory.
3. If
both
teams
end
up
defaulting
the
game,
no
points
will
be
awarded.
4. Defaults
and
Suspensions
may
result
in
a
loss
of
Spirit
Deposit.
G) Tournament Standings
1. In
round
robin
play,
standings
shall
be
decided
on
the
following
point
system:
-‐ Points
will
be
awarded
for
every
game
win.
(i.e.
the
winner
of
the
best
of
three
games
can
obtain
a
maximum
of
2
points,
and
a
loser
can
obtain
a
maximum
of
1
point.
-‐ Ties
upon
entering
playoffs
will
be
decided
by
looking
at
total
game
losses.
