1. BAMBIKE (Revolution Cycles)


Bambike is a socio-ecological enterprise based in the Philippines that hand-makes bamboo bicycles with fair-
trade labor and sustainable building practices. The bamboo bike builders (aka Bambuilders) come from Gawad
Kalinga, a Philippine based community development organization for the poor, working to bring an end to
poverty. They have programs that include scholarships, sponsoring a preschool teacher, and a weekly feeding
program for children, as well as a bamboo nursery for reforestation. Bambike is a company that is interested in
helping out people and the planet, dedicated to social and environmental stewardship. Our goal is to do better
business and to make the greenest bikes on the planet.
Mission
Their mission is to build the greenest products on the planet while creating jobs for some of the people that need
them the most.

Bryan McClelland, President and CEO of Bamb Ecological Technology Inc.
He is a Socio-ecological entrepreneur building bamboo bicycles and starting ecotourism operations in the
developing world. Interested in promoting new green economies with appropriate environmental technologies.
Working to create as many jobs as possible for the people that need them the most by building the greenest bikes
on the planet.

Bambike supports the advocacy of Gawad Kalinga, a Philippine-based community development organization that
aims to end poverty by restoring the dignity of the poor. This is done at Bambike by employing rural villagers,
providing full-time and fair trade work opportunities, and using environmentally responsible manufacturing
techniques. Bambike is dedicated to growing the green economy and to sustainable livelihood development.

2. Anthill Fabric Gallery


Anthill’s purpose is to celebrate our culture and preserve this living tradition by providing enabling environments
that will support sustainable livelihood. At ANTHILL, they work to rethread the tapestry that connects us to the
past, to wear who we are.

Anya Lim is the Princess Ant/ Co Founder and Managing Director of ANTHILL Fabric Gallery. She finished her
Masters in Communication for Social Change at the University of Queensland, Australia. Anya is genuinely
passionate about weaving business skills and traditional skills through community entrepreneurship.

3. First Harvest
Mission
First Harvest is a social enterprise that creates a replicable template for community-based toll manufacturing of
food products. Partnering with Gawad Kalinga, it aims to provide employment opportunities in their countryside
housing projects resulting to sustainable community development

Catherine Patacsil, Nico Encarnacion and Tajen Sui established First Harvest to share their skills in crafting brand
DNA and design equity, and running a social business.

First Harvest aims to create scalable food processing facilities in 25 farms in major provinces the Philippines.
They partnered with Gawad Kalinga, an NGO that has gained global credence, to equip us with the needed
network. These toll-manufacturing plants will serve as local hubs for product development to increase the value of
raw agricultural produce into highly profitable commodities. First Harvest is a grassroots solution that aims to
arrest poverty and its symptoms. It empowers the socially disadvantaged through an agri-based inclusive asset-
building value chain. This creates a competitive agricultural business model, where consumers and businesses
also benefit from addressing food security, quality, and nutrition concerns.

4. Filipina Homebased Moms


Filipina Homebased Moms (FHMoms) is a social enterprise that equips Filipina mothers with digital skills that
will help them become ready for online jobs. Dedicated to help all Filipina moms out there who are aspiring to
work from home, be able to land the online jobs they deem of having, through the support group we came up with
over Facebook. Through this group, we aim to cater to all the needs of fellow freelance working Pinay moms.
Vision
A nationwide scope of empowered home-based Filipina moms through a supporting, respectful, and flourishing
community. This is a goal that we will actively pursue by encouraging and motivating moms to make wonders in
their freelancing, parenting, and entrepreneurship adventures.

Mission
Whatever kind of freelance mom you wish to become, FHMOMS will always be with you every step of the way.
We will be with each and everyone of you to and through your freelancing journey and will act as your bridge to
socialize, collaborate, and share experience to other Filipina moms.

Maria Korina Bertulfo (CEO & Founder of Filipina Homebased Moms)
Passionate about helping Pinay Stay-at-home/Corporate/Overseas moms thrive in their chosen career either as an
online mompreneur or a work-at-home mom so that they can earn enough without leaving their family.

Social problem addressed by the enterprises


FHMoms delivers their services online. They continue to train students despite the ECQ. Beyond their regular
service offerings to their communities, FHMoms is also extending support to frontliners. On March 23 to 29, they
held webinars on various topics that would help people adjust to the “new normal” brought by the pandemic.
Since the implementation of the ECQ, people had to observe physical distancing; the workforce had to follow a
work-from-home scheme; and students had to take their classes through distance learning modes. FHMom’s
webinars aim to discuss these and guide people how to adapt. Some of these discuss managing mental health in
the time of self-isolation, homeschooling, working-from-home productivity tips, among many others. In addition
to that, they are also organizing a donation drive in which proceeds will go to frontliners and to their stakeholders
who need support.

5. Liter of Light (Sustainable Lighting)


Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light) is MYShelter Foundation's venture into a sustainable lighting project
which aims to bring the eco-friendly solar bottle bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide.

Illac Diaz under the MyShelter Foundation used the technology as a social enterprise which was first launched in the
Philippines. He is a social entrepreneur from the Philippines who created a system of sustainability and reliability through its
capability-building and employment-generating projects.

Social problem addressed by the enterprises


My shelter foundation hasa means of bringing cheap light to disadvantaged Filipinos and recycling tons of plastic waste that
would otherwise end up in already-overburdened landfills. They are committed into telling the story of more than one billion
people around the world who suffer from the debilitating effects of energy poverty.
