1.0 APPLICATION
The SCOUT Power Supply module is designed to accept many input voltages as
specified at time of order. It provides output voltages to satisfy the SCOUT
Remote Terminal Unit in its maximum configuration. The input voltage is
isolated from the output voltages. In addition, each output voltages is again
isolated from the other output voltages. Led indications are available for input on,
charger on (optional), control off status, and dc output voltages.
In the ac option, a temperature compensated battery back-up charger unit can be

ordered along with the power supply module. This will charge two 12volt
batteries while supplying power to the SCOUT RTU.
The primary power input is applied at the J1 connector. The pin number will
differ depending on the following requirements:
• Input power control by the on board switch (AC input option)
• Inline Input fuses ( 2 types of fuse holders)
Description of terminal connectors can be found on this document. Module will

indicate externally the complete part number, serial number, and the level of
revision or issue.
Power Supply and Battery Back-up Option/Configuration details are available on

51464 – S, 51466 - S drawings. This document will provide Electrical
characteristics of the standard AC and DC options.

2.0 SCOUT POWER SUPPLY – AC INPUT
The front end of the power supply unit includes a filtered, autoranging rectifier
module. This satisfies a broad spectrum of requirements and agency standards and
interfaces directly with world wide AC mains.
In addition to providing transient/surge immunity and EMI filtering, it contains all

of the power switching and control circuitry necessary for autoranging
rectification, inrush current limiting, and over voltage protection.
