1.0 Introduction

A liquid nutrient that is usually prepared through the fermentation of coconut, sugar

or different ingredient like citrus fruit, strawberry or bubble gum flavor is called

lambanog.

Drinking lambanog is said to be the one of the oldest traditions around the Quezon.

Based on history of the Philippines, lambanog is originated in Tayabas City in Quezon

Province.

Based on the researches, lambanog originated through fermentation of different saps.

It gives pleasant taste and may also make a person to be sleepy whenever a person drink.

Also, according to the historical records, drinking lambanog in Quezon is usually a

communal thing- men sit around in a circle and “tagayan” will happen. And one of the

ritual of Tayabasin is they say “Naypo” before they drink it

The making of lambanog continues to spread to the different parts of the Philippines.

And making Lambanog takes long patience to do. Lambanog arak is produced in the

Southern Tagalog region particularly in the provinces of Quezon, Laguna, and Batangas.

The Quezon province produces most of the lambanog wine because of abundance in

coconut plantations in the area. Lambanog wine production gives employment to many

residents in Quezon Province. The market consists of townsfolk as well as nearby towns.
1.1 Background of Problem

Lambanog is one of the famous alcoholic drink in the quezon. However many people

didn’t know where it come from or how it is made.

Because lambanog has only recently begun its introduction onto the international

market, trade data tracking export and import of this product is very limited. In terms of

production, lambanog-making is still very much a cottage industry with deep historical

roots.

However, the industry of Lambanog experienced setbacks a few years ago due to

infestation of coconuts, shortage of raw materials, and competition from other substitute

products (e.g. beer, gin, vodka). Still, the lambanog wine supply is not sufficient to meet

its demand. The most pressing problem is the lack of consistent supply of tuba due to

unfavorable weather conditions. Other common problems are high cost of maintaining

karitan(coconut bridges), high cost of acquiring production equipment, and stiff

competition from the big distilleries of alcoholic beverages.

1.2 Overview of the Current State of Technology

In the Philippines, Quezon province is the major producer of lambanog wine because

of theabundance of coconut plantations in the area. According to Villaflor (2005), there

are 14 registeredlambanog wine processors based on a list provided by the Department of

Trade and Industry (DTI).Most of them are cottage small scale enterprises with 4 to 25

employees. Some of the distillers gettheir supply of raw materials from their owncoconut
farms while others rent out. The productioncapacity of these distilleries rangedfrom 25

gallons to as much as 350 gallons of lambanog weekly. The three maindistilleries in the

country are also located in the Quezon province - the MallariDistillery, the Buncayo

Distillery, and the Capistrano Distillery (Vito, 2004).

While Quezon remains the leading distiller, lambanog production has been existing

in Liliw,Laguna as early as the Spanish colonization. Processors are located in

farmswhich are relatively farfrom town proper. Their products are sold in the locality and

also transported in other places usingworking animals like horses, in most cases.

Production has been hampered by coconut infestation in year 2002. However, it is slowly

recoveringas new players started to venture in lambanog wineproduction. Some of the

processors have acquired bigger facilities and replaced old equipment tsoincrease the

level ofproduction while others have started producing flavored lambanog and sell

toplaces outside of the town.

Currently, the level of production in Quezon Province is not sufficient to meet its

demand.Based on interviewed firms, they were not able to produce optimal amount

oflambanog due to lack ofsupply especially during the rainy season. Not all the

coconuttrees are tapped because some of themare fruit bearing trees and not suited for

lambanogproduction. Some of the coconut farm owners selltheir produce to copra makers

andretailers of coconut juice and meat.

1.3 Project Rationale

 To the Market

This will help them advertise their lambanog product.

This will help them import and export their products to other places.
This will help the market economy increase because of lambanog.

 To the Proponents

This will help them boost their confidence in making a film.

This will provide them experience in making a film.

This will help them enhance their 2D animation skills.

 To the STI College Lucena

This film will be credited to the school.

This will boost up their school name.

2.0 Project Description

In this current time, many lambanog producers have difficulty in selling up their

products,so the proponents make a film that will enhance and advertise their products

not just in Quezon Province but in other places too.

The proposed film about __________ is all about the lambanog industries in

Quezon Province.

2.1 Problem Statement

2.2 Proposed Research Project

2.2.1 General Objective

The producers combined their knowledge and technical skills in multimedia

production to create a short film that has animation, and sound effects that can

motivate every person to appreciate life and its moral lessons. The creation of the
short film was intended for the viewers to understand more about lucid dreaming and

on how it is going to affect someone who is in lucid dreaming.

2.2.2 Specific Objectives

 To integrate 2D animation into the short film

To make the short film livelier, the producers integrate animation by using a

series of drawings, computer graphics, or photographs of objects. Using

animation brings us to a whole new dimension, and can bring the characters to life

and tell stories.

 To integrate sound effects and proper dubbing into the short film

The producers included sound effects which are used in the background of a

scene to create anticipation or express an action, mood, or feeling and proper

dubbing in which actor/s re-records the dialogue after the filming process to

improve audio quality.

 To produce a short film in limited time and budget

Producing a movie is very expensive but since the producers used the

available technology that they have, they are able to downgrade the expenses as

much as they possibly can without affecting the quality of the movie. The

producers considered the time that was allocated for the making the short film.

 To create 2D characters in given limited time

Since the producers short film is a semi-animated, they need to create a 2D

characters which will portray their real human character. The producers used
Adobe Photoshop for creating the 2D character. The producers considered the

time that was allocated.

 To let the viewers learnt a life lesson from watching the short film

The producers come up with a life lessons that are relevant and meaningful.

The producers wanted to take the short film as a message to every viewer who can

relate to what our character experienced. The producers aimed to motivate and

highlight the moral lessons that they can appreciate. To the ones who cannot

relate, they will have at least an idea on how our character will feel and that they

will become aware to the ones who have the same experience just as much as

what our character experienced.

2.2.3 Scope and Limitation

2.2.3.1 Scope

The producers used Adobe CS6 and Adobe Photoshop CS6 in creating

and editing the voices, sound effects and text that are compatible in the short

film.

The short film have a major and minor events in life of a senior high

student. This short film includes the causes, consequences and the possible

outcome of the story of the film. The short film was mainly set in school,

since the character involved is a student, the student have a lot of the scenes

that was filmed in school and some scenes was filmed in other places like

park. They also used natural lightning from the sun and lighting effects from

the equipment. The producer think about the design and utilize the film

element like narrations, sounds, editing and animations. The producers also
put English subtitle to it. It has few time duration and the file name

extension of the short film is MP4.The producers used this kind of video

format because most media players are able to play MP4 format and it has a

small file size but has a better resolution. It has a resolution of 1080p below;

it is the default or standard resolution of the software that the producers used

which is

Adobe Premiere. The short film was playable in any media player

software like VLC media player and Windows media player.

2.2.3.2 Limitations

The short film was only filmed inside Lucena City. The producers did not

use green screen because they cannot afford it. The producers did not use a

camera slider which is usually used in filming a movie to get different angle of

the camera because the producer’s budget is limited and so as reflector that is

used to redirect light towards a given subject or scene.

2.2.4 Methodology

The methodology used by the producers was the Video Production

Methodology that includes the development, pre-production, production, post-

production, and distribution wherein the producers followed each method

sequentially. They used this kind of methodology because it is normally the most

commonly used method when making a film.

Development

Pre-Production
Production
Post-Production

Distribution

 Development

In this stage, the producer worked out film making ideas and how to tell the

story and then they developed a story, which may come from a book, play,

another film, true story, etc. Once all the ideas are conceptualized, producer
worked with writing the script after they identified the theme or underlying

message for their short film. Next they produce a storyboard, which a graphic

organizer in the form of illustrations or images displayed in sequence for the

purpose of pre-visualizing it.

 Pre-Production

Preparations are made for the shoot, in which cast are hired, locations are

selected, and sets are built. The producers make sure that all the cast and all the

equipment such as video camera, tripod, headphones and lights are already

prepared.

The producers also checked the chosen location that there won't be any

interruptions or distracting sounds and that there has a space to get all the camera

positions needed.

 Production

The actual shooting of the movie happens in this stage. Shooting involves setting

up props, lighting and actors being put in their respective costumes. All the clips

shot in a day are processed roughly. This was done regularly to keep the

producers and the cast be motivated and aware of how the movie is progressing.

Since the producers are students, it takes a lot of time for the producers to take

some shots in every scene.

 Post-Production
In this stage, all the movie footage are now ready for editing. Here, the

producers assembled all the video or film. Undesirable scenes are cut or shortened

to produce an ideal short inspirational movie. The production sound is also edited,

music tracks and songs are added, and sound effects are designed and recorded.

 Distribution

The producers released the movie on DVD or Blu-Ray, and in some

networking sites like Facebook, YouTube and other related networking sites.

3.2.2 Software Requirements

 Adobe After Effects CS6 (64-bit)

Adobe after Effects CS6 is a digital motion graphics and composing software

published by Adobe System, it was used in the post-production process of film

making and television production. It is usually used in motion graphics animation.

Both Adobe After Effects CS6 and Adobe Premier Pro CS6 work together to obtain

fast and efficient editing. The producers used this application in short film to make

our presentation more animated and produce an output.

 Adobe Photoshop CS6 (32 or 64-bit)

Adobe Premier Pro CS6 and Adobe After Effects also integrates with Adobe

Photoshop. Photoshop files can be opened directly from Premiere Pro to be edited in

Photoshop, same in Adobe After Effects. Any changes will immediately be updated

when the Photoshop file is saved and focus returns to Premiere Pro or After Effects.

The producers used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to manipulate and create a picture more

presentable. Using this software creating and editing pictures is necessary and will be

used in the short film

 Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 (64-bit)

It is real time-line-based video editing software application Premiere Pro that

supports many video editing cards. The producers used Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 to

integrate all the scenes for pre-production and post- production in editing videos. It

also plays a major role other than Adobe After Effects CS6. Using premier pro to

create and finalized the short film. This application helps to control the audio and

video by sequence and it also helps to polish our final output.

 Adobe Flash CS6 (32 or 64 bit)

Adobe Flash CS6 is a multimedia software platform for production of

animations, browser games, rich internet applications, desktop applications, mobile

applications and mobile games.

3.3.3 Hardware Requirements

 Computer
The Computer will be used by the producers for editing the video. It will also be

used in creating animation and for rendering the finished product of the film. The

computer has a processor of Intel(R) Core(TM) i3- 3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.30GHz
