complete sentences.
● Please answer in this document, i.e. do not write your answers by hand in your
exercise book.
● Parts One & Two due by Thursday 25 March by 11:45 pm
● Parts Three & Four due by Thursday 1 April by 11:45pm
● Part Five and Appendix due by Sunday 18 April by 11:45pm (last night of the
holidays)

PART ONE
Chapter One
1. What is ‘stuppa’ and why is it wrapped up in paper? Its human waste and its wrapped
up because it stinks.
2. What is their town called? There town is called Bahala
3. How old was Raphael when he started sorting rubbish? He was 3 Years of age
4. What implement do they use to pick up the rubbish? They used a hook
5. Who is Raphael’s rubbish collecting partner? Gardo is his rubbish collecting partner

Chapter Two
1. How old are the boys? 14 years of age
2. How much money did Raphael find? They found 1100 peso
3. What else did they find that was interesting? They found a ID card
4. Raphael says, “With the right key, you can bust the door wide open.” Usually a key is
used to open a door to let someone out. What could ‘busting the door open’ represent
for Raphael and Gardo? How are they trapped? They are trapped In a corrupt society

Chapter Three
1. What did the policemen offer as a reward for finding the bag 10000 to who puts it in
his hand and 1000 to every family?
2. What does Raphael tell the police he found after his Auntie tells them he found
something? He says he found shoe
3. Who does Raphael live with? He lives with his auntie and half sister

5. What does the key open and how does Rat know this? A Locker key Because he lived
at the train station

Chapter Five
1. What did you notice about the way Gardo narrates compared to Raphael and what
does this show us about his personality? He is so serious and dose not have fun
2. What colour was the handbag that someone found in the rubbish? blue
3. What do you think Gardo means when he says to Raphael’s Auntie, “If one of us got
all that money you think we’d be allowed to keep it for long?” there would take the
money before they have a chance to use it

Chapter Six
1. How does the writer show us who is narrating the chapter? By saying who starts
narrating each chapter
2. How do the boys get to the central train station? They swung up in to the window
3. How much are the police offering as a reward for the bag now? 20000
4. What was inside the locker? A brown package with a letter to be delivered to a
prisoner
