FEASIBILITY STUDY
The Seminar entitled, “Social Media Addiction: An Awareness and Prevention”, will be
supervised by the Grade 12 – Brazil’s events management teacher, Ms. Gemma
Requiez. A total of only twelve (12) event management students are expected to
attend in order to really practice safety protocols. In addition, five (5) students namely,
John Felix Mostaza, April De Lara, Aldwin Fulgado, Russel Enriquez and Glenie
Donozo will lead the program. This is going to be the first time that these students will
manage and experience this kind of event due to the pandemic outbreak.
III. OBJECTIVES OF THE EVENT, THEME, AND SCOPE
Internet and social media addiction has become a common disorder in today’s society.
Thus, this program is intended to raise awareness towards the effects of social media
to the lives of every people. Because, although social media is thought to have several
advantages, including flexibility and accessibility to communication, study, and work
anywhere, anytime, social media still holds plenty of disadvantages that may affect
everyone most especially now that now that gadget are essential. The objective of the
event is to give Awareness and Prevention to Social Media Addiction among to the
students of National College of Business and Arts Fairview under their elective which
is Events Management. The team also hopes to provide the students with a
coordinated and well-planned seminar by instilling some guidelines that must be
followed to ensure the peaceful and effective execution of the event. The theme of the
event is, “Social Media Addiction: An Awareness and Prevention and will be held on
April 05, 2021 Monday.
IV. DEMAND ANALYSIS
Guidance Department Monthly Wellness seminar is the closest resemblance with the
Social Media Addiction: an Awareness and Prevention Seminar. This is the nearest
similar past event held within the same institution. The wellness seminar is conducted
every last Friday of the month, whereas the seminar regarding social media will be
conducted once. Considering that the said event is small, marketing and promotion
will be much easier since the target attendees are specific. Since attendees are limited
due to government restrictions as well as students having different electives, the
potential participants are Events Management students only. Albeit being a “seminar”
which is common nowadays, this is exclusive for the said participants within the
General Academic Strand – Events Management elective in National College of
Business and Arts–Fairview and none other shall be allowed to join. The world is
already in the 21st century where technology and gadgets flourish. This is seen by the
planners as an opportunity to provide knowledge, awareness, and information
regarding social media. The youth is the primary user of social media. Social media
became a trend in these modern times due to large variety of information provided
such as entertainment and news. A seminar with topic like this will greatly help and
benefit the students.
V. COMPETITION
The Seminar is similar to conference and a formal gathering where people gather to
discuss a specific topic of mutual interest. They are both can be held in different
schools containing teachers, students, and other school staff. However, due to the
limited budgets, time, and preparation, this type of activity may not be done, since it
requires a consideration of the financial, problems factors that the management would
face. School-Wide seminar and workshops are also similar to this event because they
are both education focused. The only difference is, School-Wide seminars are
designed to create and promote unified culture. Workshops, on the other hand, are
generally more on hands-on and group activities.
VI. IMPLEMENTATION
The Social Media Addiction: an Awareness and Prevention Seminar will be held on
April 05, 2021. The location will be at National College of Business and Arts–Fairview.
The place can cater an adequate amount of attendees, close to thirty (30) while
following protocols. However, since the participants are only coming from the Events
Management elective, the said location’s capacity is more than enough.
- Microphone
- Speaker
- Laptop
- Projector
- Projector screen
- Phone
- Flash drive
VII. FINANCIAL ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS
The advantage of this event is that the venue can handle the number of participant’s
who will participate. Also, since the location is familiar to the attendees, they won’t
have a hard time going to the event. The Event Management is also open to
suggestions, ideas, and complaints, and they are competent in their practice and
preparation. Attending a seminar will help you improve your leadership skills, develop
professional expertise, network with others, and renew your inspiration and trust,
among other things.
WEAKNESSES
Not enough manpower for funds and security. Cost is the first thing that needs to be
prioritized when doing the seminar. Due to lack of manpower, the cost might become
a little problem as to it’s not just the food, but also the materials that they need to buy.
Added with the security, since they will be mostly focused with the seminar, the
speakers as well as the technical staffs, it might become a less priority. The topic is
wildly used, together as the method of discussing it, which is through seminar.
Seminar can, sometimes, be boring. It’s one of the wildly used method on discussing
a topic. Though the subject matter of the seminar is important, the audience of the
event may not be fully interested as to they might be used of the topic.
OPPORTUNITIES
THREATS
Other school organizations might come up with the same activity. School
organizations make up the different groups of people in the school society. Those
organizations might come up the same activity, and also, the same topic. Though it is
undergoing through approval of the school heads, this might result of competition.
Unexpected happenings might occur. There might be emergencies or weather issues
that might happen at the time of the event. Thus resulting in the movement of schedule
or cancellation of it.
IX. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Organizing and conducting this event entitled “Social Media Addiction: an Awareness
and Prevention Seminar”, would be remarkable as it is significant to the current issues
present in today’s society. The costs and resources were all understandable, though
as stated above that this event would be held at the institution grounds, inside the
school campus, rental of speakers, microphones and projectors aren’t that much
necessary as the school has these equipment that can be borrowed without paying
through writing of request letter that has all the details of the event you’re conducting
for. This could help the organizer to reduce the cost and address one of their
weaknesses. In terms of the weaknesses that were stated above, one way that can
be done to prevent the event to become boring and get your guest’s attention, you
may conduct interactive games wherein it allows the guests to participate and be
active in your discussions or you can also give snacks, prizes, certificates or
remembrance that the guests could use and remember that they’ve attended a
seminar. Thus, I therefore conclude that this event is feasible, the details and
information were all well-presented and clear.
