School: OCNHS Grade Level: 7

Learning Areas: Mathematics Quarter: Third

Teacher: Jean M. Malacas Time: 6:30-7:30 (BEP 7-14)
Teaching Date: January___, 2018

I. Objectives:
A. Content Standard: The learner demonstrates understanding the key concepts, uses
and importance of statistics, data collection/ gathering and the different forms of
data representation, measures of central tendency, measures of variability, and
probability.
B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to collect and organize data
systematically a compute accurately measures of central tendency and variability
and apply these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different fields.
C. Learning Competency: 60% of the students are expected to answer 7 out of 12
presented graphs within 15 minutes.

II. Content: Organizing and Presenting Data

Strategy: Group Work, Board Work, and Exposition

III. Learning References:

1. Learning Materials; 239-244
2. Advance Algebra; page 244 - 249
IV. Procedures:
A. Review the previous lesson/ Motivation:
Activity:
Consider the following charts and graphs and answer the follow questions that
follow:
B. Establishing the purpose for the lesson:
 What information can we get from each of the above charts or graphs?
Discuss each chart or graph.
 Do they present the same information?
 Describe each of the charts/graph.

C. Presenting Examples/ Discussing New Concepts:

A histogram is a graphical representation showing a visual impression of the
distribution of data. A histogram consists of tabular frequencies, shown as adjacent
rectangles, erected over intervals. The height of a rectangle is also equal to the
frequency.

A pie chart is a circle divided into sectors proportional to the frequencies. It

shows how a part of something relates to the whole. It is important to define
what the whole represents.

A bar graph is like a histogram except that its bars are separated. This uses
parallel bars, either horizontal or vertical, to represent counts for several categories.
One bar is used for each category with the length of the bar representing the count
for that one category.

A line
graph shows
trends in data clearly. This displays data which are collected over a period of time to
show how the data change at regular intervals.

A Picture Graph or Pictograph uses a picture or an icon to symbolize the

quantities being represented. From this graph, the change in quantity over time can be
observed.

D. Developing Mastery:
The teacher will collect the birth month of each student in the class organize and
present the following data using an appropriate chart or graph:

Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec
Score
s

E. Making Generalization:
In this lesson, you learned about the different ways of organizing and
presenting data.
1. What are some of the different ways of presenting data?
2. Describe the information that can be obtained from a data presented
using Bar Graph, Pie Chart, Line Graph, and Histogram
F. Evaluation:
The students will work as pair. See Attachment.

V. Reflection:
