Integrity Essay
Living a life with integrity could mean a variety of different meanings. Throughout my
time as a student at Great Oak High School, I found my own meaning of living a life of integrity.
I believe that a person living a life with integrity means that they are always true to themselves
and have high morals. I have always believed in integrity and this has truly shaped me into the
person that I am today. I plan on incorporating integrity into my everyday life even after I
graduate. I have chosen an ice cream sundae to symbolize my plans in the future because it is
one of my favorite things to eat and I have noticed the details that make an ice cream sundae so
great, similar to how I have discovered the people and things that make my life so great.
The framework of my plan is similar to the ice cream portion of an ice cream sundae.
Like the ice cream in an ice cream sundae my options are not limited to just one thing, there are a
variety of pathways that I could take and use integrity in my everyday life. I always gravitate
towards mint chocolate chip ice cream which is my favorite however, sometimes I will choose a
different flavor. This is similar to how I am planning on going to a college in the state and
eventually going to medical school. Thus, it can be concluded that my plans for the future are not
definite, however, I have a pretty good idea of what I would like to do.
Life as we know it is very unpredictable, which is why the factors resemble sprinkles
within an ice cream sundae. It's unpredictable as in you won’t know which colors you will get,
just like how life is unpredictable and you will never really know what will happen which is

what makes life scary yet fun. However it is important to remain true to yourself even when life
becomes complicated. Also when looking at sprinkles there's a variety of colors; which is similar
to how I don’t have to only focus on one thing I can live my life freely. Sprinkles are also known
for being very colorful and life is not black and white so its important to keep your morals no
matter what. Furthermore, the factors in my life that keep my life interesting are similar to
sprinkles because it is very unpredictable.
Something that brings cohesion to my life are my friends and family, this part of my life
is similar to the cherry on top. My friends and family make every moment worth lying for and
they complete my life. Similar to how the cherry on top just completes the sundae and ties
everything together. My friends and family help keep me sane especially during stressful
situations, they help me remain true to myself and essentially keep me in check. The aspect that
protects me against my stressors are, again, my family and friends. This aspect is similar to the
bowl of the ice cream sundae, it holds all the contents of the sundae together and provides
structure. All in all, it can be seen that my friends and family have a vital position in providing
me strength and cohesion in building my life.
In order to guarantee that my plan is a lifelong plan, I have created little goals for myself.
Some of these goals are to attend a university, always be a kind individual, and make my parents
proud of the person that I have become. These goals are similar to a freezer, the freezer keeps the
ice cream cold and ensures that it does not melt. Similar to how these goals that I have set for
myself keep me motivated and ensure that I fulfill this plan that I have for myself. Thus, these
goals help me maintain a sense of durability in order to ensure that my plans are lifelong plans.
I believe that ultimately I am the source that motivates myself to move forward with my
plan and turn it into a reality. I am the one who chooses what I want my life to be like and no one

can take that away from me. I believe this motivation that I have is similar to a spoon. A spoon is
used to mix the contents of an ice cream sundae and it is necessary to eat the sundae much like
how the motivation I have is used to guide me towards my goals. Another aspect that I realized is
that my goals will not be a reality unless I make it a reality. Thus, I have realized that my
motivation is what helps me have a sense of direction in the paths that I want to take in the
future.
Furthermore, throughout my time at Great Oak High School I found where I want to go
in life, and that integrity is a vital component in achieving these goals because it will ensure that
I am remaining moral and true to myself.
