Activity#1: Life Lessons Learned

1.    What are some of life’s lessons learned in the following stories?  Mention only and relate it to
your own experience. Mention the event, experience of the name of the character that
showed that particular lesson your life.

 A. THE QUEST OF THE GOLDEN FLEECE

Character:__Nephele________________________________________________________

Event/Experience: Even though she was not in good condition because she was jailed by
her own husband, she still prayed for the safety of her two children.

'Lesson/s learned: The lesson I learned in Nephele’s experience is a mother’s love for her
children is unconditional. A mother will always think of their children’s sake first, before
thinking of their own. I can relate this with my own experience because my mother always
cares and worries about me whenever I’m sick, even though she’s also not feeling well. She
would provide me everything I need even if she won’t be able to get her own needs. My
mother will always prioritize us, her children, instead of herself because a mother will always
find a way to protect her own children.

B.   THE FOUR GREAT ADVENTURES

Character:___Icarus_______________________________________________________

Event/Experience: His father already warned him to not fly too high because the wax in his
wings might be melted because of the sun’s heat, but he disregarded his father’s advice. He
flew too high, and the wax melted. As a result, he fell into the ocean and died in drowning.

Lesson/learned: Always listen to the advice of elders. In my life, there are a lot of times
where I am a stubborn and hard-headed child, sometimes I don’t listen to what my parents
and grandparents tell me to do because I think that my decisions are right. However, in the
end, I just get the consequences of my actions and rush decisions. Icarus’ experience taught
me that I should always take elder’s advice seriously because they know what the best is for
me, and they don’t want me to be in danger. Additionally, it made me realize that my desire,
and clumsy decisions and actions can result in harm. That's why I need to think deeply first
before doing anything.

C.   GREAT HEROES BEFORE THE TROJAN WAR

Character:__King Aegus_________________________________________________

Event/Experience: Theseus forgot to raise the white sail so his father saw that the sail is still
in black. King Aegeus thought that his son was already dead. It resulted to jumping to the sea
of King Aegeus, and that’s the reason for his death.

Lesson/s learned: Know the whole story first before arriving into a conclusion. We should
always hear the details or facts before we conclude and take action. Sometimes, I also
experience this, I act hastily without knowing the details first that’s why at the end; I face
consequences of my actions. Also, not waiting to have the full picture before acting can lead
to loss of time and effort.
