1. Do you like watching advertising on TV or not? Why?

Please list five productive

things to do during commercial breaks.

Yes. I like watching advertisements but I rarely watch TV because I give more
preference to the internet as compared to television. So most of the ads that I see are
on the internet while surfing Youtube videos or any other websites. For some reasons,
I get awed by how someone could just make a product stuck in our minds. Some use
stories, others have that twist and it is more often not the product that strikes us, it is
actually how the advertisement of it relates to our life.
I love watching advertisements which have some story behind. So, instead of those 10
seconds ads, I would say I prefer the ones that span over at least 45 seconds and strike
the chord with something that is affecting us socially. For example, there was a recent
ad by Neptune (a cooking oil brand) for the Tet holiday which did not talk about
Neptune, but about the value of family reunions. It is also the real meaning of the Tet
holiday. Although it is just a simple story but it is touching enough to awake emotions
in our hearts.
Here are something I can do during the commercial break:
- Check and clean up my emails inbox/messengers
- Organize my closet and fold laundry
- Grab something to eat or drink
- Do some quick workout: stretch legs, squats, push-up...
- Clear my wastebasket and Take out the garbage

2.  Have you ever shopped online? Why? Please list 5 typical benefits and 5 typical
drawbacks of shopping online?

Yes. I have and I do it frequently. I enjoy shopping online because I can do so in the
comfort and privacy of my home. I can shop in my pajamas and no one knows the
difference. I can compare prices with the click of a mouse. I can save money and
prevent the frustration that comes with heavy traffic and no available parking. It is so
convenient to shop online. Everything is literally at your fingertips.

 Five benefits of shopping online:

- Convenience and saves time
We can purchase items from the comfort of our own homes or workplace. It is also
easy to cancel transactions with online shopping. We do not have to stand in queues in
cash counters to pay for the products. We can also look for the products by entering
the keywords or using search engines. Online shops allow us to shop 24/7.
- Easy comparisons
Comparing and researching products and their prices is so much easier online. If
you're shopping for appliances, for example, you can find consumer reviews and
product comparisons for all the options on the market, with links to the best prices.
We can research firsthand experience, ratings, and reviews for most products and
retailers.
- No pressure
Generally, in physical stores, the sales representatives try to influence the buyers to
buy the product. There can be some kind of pressure, whereas the customers are not
pressurized in any way in online stores.
- More variety
The choices online are amazing. You can find almost any brand or item you're
looking for. You can get in on the latest international trends without spending money
on airfare. You can shop from retailers in other parts of the state, country, or even
world instead of being limited to your geography. A far greater selection of colors and
sizes than you will find locally are at your disposal. Plus, the stock is much more
plentiful, so you'll always be able to find your size and color. Some online shops even
accept orders for out-of-stock items and ship when they come in.
- Better prices
Cheap deals and better prices are available online because products come to you
direct from the manufacturer or seller without involving middlemen. Plus, it's easier
to compare prices and find a better deal. Many online sites offer discount coupons and
rebates, as well.

 Five typical drawbacks of shopping online:

- Missing the shopping experience
The traditional shopping exercise provides a lot of fun in the form of showroom
atmosphere e, smart sales attendants, scent, and sounds that cannot be experienced
through a website. Many consumers look forward to it as an opportunity to go out and
shop.
- You can't touch the product
The sad part of online shopping is, you cannot touch the product and feel how it is.
You can just see the image and read the description. Online shopping is not suitable
for people who wish to buy the product only after trying it or by touching it.
- Delay in the delivery
In the case of offline shopping, you can receive the product then and there. But, this
does not happen in online shopping. Even though it hardly takes 10-15 minutes to buy
the product online, by the time it reaches your hands, it would be more than 4-5 days.
During the big sales, e-commerce portals may take too long to deliver the product.
- Risk of Fraud
While shopping online, we use bank card information online. So there is a large risk
of fraud. There can be online scams, fishing, and hacking, etc. Some bogus websites
are purposely designed to serve this type of activity.
- Product Problems
There may be potential problems with the seller when you buy online. They can
describe a product wrongly, or misleadingly, as they have almost total control over
how a product is portrayed. They may also be more difficult to communicate with
than your local store.
3.  How is the importance of advertising in our modern life? Give explanation and
examples.

I believe that advertising plays an important role in our modern life.

First, advertisement is the tool that many companies and enterprises use to inform us
about new products and their usefulness that enhance our knowledge about the
different options we have. It is advertising which has helped people adopting new
ways of life and giving-up old habits. It has contributed to the betterment of the
standard of living in society. As an example, pharmaceutical companies use
advertisements to present their new drugs. Those drugs which are the result of new
researches are more effective to cure diseases like malaria and so on.

Second, advertisement facilitates consumer choice because of the wide information

they have about products. It enables consumers to purchase goods as per their budget
requirements and choice. For example, to choose between the wide ranges of
communication networks available, customers refer to the price and quality given in
advertisements.

Finally, the advertisement informs the buyer about the benefits they would get when
they purchase a particular product. The benefit can be a discount on the price of
goods. It helps buyers save money for other uses. The benefit can also be the more
effective of a product compare to others.

In short, advertisement is a good way to present new devices and items from which
buyers can benefit. It also helps us in making responsible choices. Therefore buyers
obtain good quality products and save money.
