1. What is meant by 21st Century Literacy?

The accumulation of knowledge, work habits, and soft skills, such as digital literacy, critical
thinking, and problem-solving, that will help students’ lead effective careers in the modern
workplace, is known as twenty-first century learning. In order to help students understand how to
access, analyze, synthesize, and contribute to information, effective teaching in 21st-century
literacies takes an integrated approach. 21st Century Literacy requires being able to make meaning
from any type of information and to communicate that meaning to others.

2. What does it mean to be literate in 21st Century?

Literacy encompasses more than just the ability to read and write, as well as the ability to
succeed in today's technical setting. It is a social construction. To be literate in the 21st century, one
must be able to learn about and adapt to a wide range of subjects, topics, and environments and
also being literate entails being able to create, interpret, and comprehend language in ways that are
suitable for these various social contexts. However, reading, writing, translating, and learning are
just the beginnings of literacy. Therefore, when an individual achieves a deeper understanding and
starts to challenge and develop their own interpretations, they are considered literate.

3. What are the importance of new literacies in the 21st century?

Having new literacy skills is not an option, it’s a must. To succeed in today's society, one must be
willing to learn, adapt, and employ new literacies. Since many of these new literacies are linked to
proper technology usage, daily training and practice on how to use technology platforms is essential.
Education aims to help students prepare for their future. We are failing our students if we do not
routinely incorporate new literacy skills into their everyday teaching.

4. How does globalization impact education?

Globalization is an essential idea for students in higher education to recognize and appreciate in
today's world because businesses and industries are looking for people who can collaborate with people
from other countries and cultures and, if necessary, travel internationally to promote their business or
industry. Some people claim that globalization is a dangerous phenomenon that has negatively impacted
the world. On the other hand, another group of people sees globalization as a positive development that
has made the world more connected and educated than ever before.

Since globalization of education involves globalization of knowledge, such inquiries may be guided to
a variety of sites and disciplines outside of education in order to understand how connectivity, values,
and knowledge are being dynamically revised on a global scale today through globalization processes.

Globalization and education interact as a result of their common interests of educating young
people for successful futures in which their nations become profoundly intertwined. Globalization in
education may provide more valid opportunities for a few advanced countries to colonize developing
countries in a new way. As a result of the challenges that globalization poses to knowledge, education
and learning will allow today's learners to become more familiar and comfortable with abstract concepts
and ambiguous circumstances.
