Design Philosophy For 120X40M Peb Shed
Type of structure is Multi Span PEB Structure. The Length of the Building is 120m,
Width is 40m, and Height at eve is 12.0m with a roof slope of 1:10.It contains two
EOT’s with a capacity of 30 Tonne each and with a hook clear height of 8 meters
from FFL.
The building framing shall be structural steel with moment connection in the
transverse direction and bracing in longitudinal direction located by the side of
building.
A Crane of 30MT lifting capacity shall be considered in two bays of each 20 mtr
width. Impact load of 25% as per IS 875 part2 shall be considered in addition to
total static load. At crane girder top flange level a crane walkway of 600mm shall
be provided in line with Factory rules. Access shall be provided to crane walkway
through staircase through cage ladder at two ends. Bottom level of roof framing
shall be decided by the crane clearance required, duly taking into account
clearance required for mounting light fixtures. Roofing shall consist of
permanently colour coated galvanised M.S troughed metal sheet of approved
profile supported on steel purlins. Side cladding and end cladding shall be of
translucent sheets and polycarbonate sheet in 20% areas shall be provided except
in areas where fans are mounted.

Pd = Kd Ka Kc Pz
The value of Pd, however shall not be taken as less than 0.7 Pz
The dynamic analysis is carried out using Response spectrum method. The seismic
loads are considered in Horizontal Directions.
Following data is considered as per IS 1893 (part I) -2002 for seismic load
calculation on structure:
1. (DL+LL)
2. (DL+WL/EL)
3. (DL+LL+CL + TL)
Page 3 of 6
5. 1.5*(DL+LL + TL)
6. 1.5*(DL+WL/EL + TL)
DL = Dead Load
LL = Live Load
WL = Wind Load
EL = Seismic Load
CL = Crane Load
TL = Temperature Load
c) All steel tubes shall be hot finished seamless steel tubes (HFG) of the
specified strength and as approved by the engineer in charge, and shall conform to
IS: 1161. Tubes made by other processes and which have been subjected to cold
working shall be regarded as hot finished if they have subsequently been heat
treated and are supplied in the normalized condition
d) All structural steel items like main portal frames, columns, all types of
bracings, rafter and connection plates etc.(350 MPA yield strength or grade 50
Steel) confirming to ASTM-A572 standards. All secondary steel items like purlins,
girts and sag rod and bolt shall be Pre-Galvanized with 120 GSM of Pre galvanized
coating mass with minimum yield strength of 345 Mpa or grade 50 and confirming

to standards of ASTM A-653. All kinds of Bracings (i.e. flange
bracings/Angle or Rod bracings) shall be Pre-galvanized with 120 GSM of Pre-
galvanized coating mass or primed with Zinc chromate Red oxide primer and
further coated with finished with minimum yield strength of 245MPa and
conforming to standards of ASTM A-653.
a) Technical supply conditions for bolts and nuts shall comply with IS: 1367.
Bolts and nuts shall be of property class 4.6 of IS: 1367. Unless specified
otherwise, the bolts and nuts shall be hexagonal.
b) All anchor bolts and must shall be of property class 4.6 (Grade B) of IS:
1367, and shall conform to IS: 5624. All nuts shall be hexagonal, and shall
conform to property class compatible with the property of the bolt used.
c) Plain washers shall conform to IS: 5369, unless otherwise specified. One
washer shall be supplied with each bolt and, in case of special types of bolts; more
than one washer as needed for the purpose shall be supplied. An additional double
coil helical spring washer, conforming to IS: 6755, shall be provided for bolts
caring dynamic or fluctuating loads and those in direct tension.
