3.1.2.1 Electrical wire shall be stored in a well-ventilated area and segregated by type
and size.
3.1.2.2 Distribution and control panels shall be stored on timbers or pallets, clear from
the floor, in a well-ventilated or air-conditioned area, when climatic conditions
are required.
3.1.2.3 Motors shall be stored on pallets in a well-ventilated area. All accessories and
spare parts shall be correctly identified, tagged and stored on shelves.
3.1.2.4 Transformers, current transformers and disconnect switches designed for indoor
service shall be stored on pallets in a well- ventilated area.
3.1.2.5 Grounding connectors and cad weld cartridges shall be stored indoors.
3.1.2.6 Meters, switches and relays shall be stored on shelves in a dry, well- ventilated
area to avoid damage by heat or humidity.
3.1.3 Instrumentation materials
3.1.3.1 All instruments shall be stored indoors.
3.1.3.2 Control panels and DCS shall be stored on timbers or pallets without unpacking
in a well ventilated or air-conditioned area in accordance with the Vendor’s
instruction
3.1.3.3 Meters, switches and relays shall be stored on shelves in a dry, well ventilated
area to avoid damage by heat or humidity and shall be handled carefully to
avoid damage.
3.1.3.4 Potentiometers shall not be exposed to temperatures below 0ºC and above
50ºC or as per manufacture’s recommendation.
3.1.3.5 Analyzers shall be stored on pallets in a well-ventilated area. If special
conditions of storage are required, the Vendor’s instruction shall be followed.
3.1.3.6 Orifice Pallets less than 4” in diameter shall be stored on shelves. Larger than
4” in diameter shall be stored on pallets in one layer. Care is to be taken to
avoid damages to their protective wrappings.

Elbows, tees, etc. shall be stored with open ends facing downwards to avoid
collecting dirt and rainwater.
3.2.1.3 Flanges
Necked flanges and blind (plate) flanges shall be stored on pallets in single
layer if there is possible or enough storage space. Unless the space is not
large enough, flanges may be stacked in layers with timber spacers
between each layer.
All flanges faces (machined) must have a protective coating, factory applied,
and extreme care must be taken during handling to avoid damage. If
damage occurs, this must be reported to QA/QC and required repair.
3.2.1.4 Valves
Manually operated valves shall be stored on pallets in a single layer with caps
fitted to both ends to prevent the ingress of rainwater, mud, etc.
3.2.1.5 Spring Hangers
Spring hanger shall be stored on pallets or sleepers, the spring barrel to be
wrapped with a waterproof material
3.2.1.6 Steel Section
Steel sections shall be stacked on sleepers, flanges down to avoid the collection
of rainwater.
3.2.1.7 Steel Plate
Steel plate shall be stored flat on sleepers with separating timbers to allow
safe handling. Steel plate shall be stored in such a way as not to cause
deformation.
3.2.2 Electrical Material
3.2.2.1 Cable Drums
Cable drums shall be stored off the ground under shelter in a single layer
with timber chocks to avoid movement and in such a position as to allow
cable drums to be easily picked out
Cut ends shall be capped and taped and the residual length of cable indicated
on each drum.
3.2.2.2 Transformers
Transformers shall be stored indoor, except in the following cases:
Transformer designed for outdoor service.
Large size indoor unit, when indoor storage is not feasible by
providing adequate shelter.
3.2.2.3 Motors
Motors shall be packed remain until installation, unless any damage is found
during visual inspection.

Manufacturer’s storage requirements shall be carefully checked for
suitability of outside storage of the motor drivers. Those that should not be
exposed to the weather and must be stored under cover.
Pumps, compressors and turbines that are received mounted on their base
plates shall be stored level, so as not to induce twists or deflection
into the base plates.
All opening are to have protective covers at all times, to prevent the entry of
moisture of foreign materials.
All accessory items shipped loose in cartons shall be carefully checked
for completeness, clearly identified and stored immediately adjacent to the
primary equipment or in a pre-designated area in the warehouse. Accessory
items shall be stored in one location by item number.
Rotary machines shall be stored on a level area and protected from mud,
dirt, twisting distortion and mechanical damage.
