Eight Golden Rules of Interface Design


Applied on foodpanda Website.
1. Strive for Consistency
This app is very consistent as
 The logo of their company didn’t change throughout.

 The color of website is Pink always which is very easy to recognize.


 Each page has same pattern, same primary menu so it feels like using a consistent
app or website.
2. Enable Frequent users to use shortcuts
Their app has not that much shortcuts like keyboard shortcuts. They should improve their
website by providing a back to up like button to navigate to the start of the page as it is
very inconvenient sometimes to navigate back to up from the bottom of the page.
They have one shortcut for frequent users:
 You can provide your information one so that you don’t have to provide it again
and again.
3. Offer informative Feedback
The website provide a very good feedback as:
 They provide a feedback of your order placement.

 They provide a track of your order just to let you know that your order has been
placed and rider is coming.

4. Design dialogues to yield closure


They provide a feedback page to enter your experience with the website and this also
shows that your task has been completed.
5. Prevent errors
 They also provide a help center if you need any help to prevent any errors.
 They provide a language change option to change your language just to make user
comfortable.

6. Permit easy reversal of actions


If you have placed a wrong order you can cancel it.
They also provide option to check weather they deliver in your area just to go back to the
previous page to save your time.

7. Support internal locus of control


 They provide you with your order management so to provide internal locus off control

 They provide you with your own personal account so that you feel like its your own.
8. Reduce short term memory load
They provide an option to let you remember that what did you order last time so that
don’t have to find any new place if you liked your previous meal you ca easily find it and
place it.
