Levels of Technology Integration:

☒ Infusion Level: Students may work at a higher Bloom’s Level, but they do not have any “Voice or
Choice” during the activity and most of the decisions are made by the teacher.

☐ Integration Level: We would like to see ALL lessons/activities reach this level. The project is
student-driven and student-led. Students should have “Voice and Choice” in the activities,
selecting the topic of study and determining the technology tool to demonstrate mastery of the
standard. The teacher becomes more of a facilitator.

☐ Expansion Level: The projects created are shared outside of the classroom, publishing student
work and promoting authorship. This could be reached by showcasing the project on the school’s
morning newscast, posting the project to the classroom blog, or publishing via an outside source.
Your student’s projects must be shared locally or globally to meet this level.

Universal Design for Learning (UDL):

In the Edpuzzle video, students have strong visuals and audio to support them. This will reach both
auditory and visual learners (multiple means of representation). Students will have opportunities for
multiple means of action and expression in their assessment. Questions during the Edpuzzle are also
written in multiple choice format, some free response, and there are even some voice recordings of
me reminding them of important information. Students will have choice, where they can choose to
work in a group of 2-3, (multiple means of engagement) where they will either create a poster or a

Flipgrid of them discussing the difference between goods and services as well as 3 different
examples of each.
Lesson idea implementation:
This video will be used as a start to our “Economic Understandings” unit. The students will gain
background knowledge of goods and services, the difference between them, and examples of both.
The guiding questions are listed above , and they will be addressed throughout the lesson. The
teacher will serve as a guide, as she plays the video and asks the students the provided questions.
The project would be introduced by providing the recording of “Goods and Services Around Town,”
by Heather E. Schwartz. I would also have the book to provide the students will the ability to see it in
person, listen to it being read to them, and I would turn on Spanish subtitles for my English learners.
After reading the book, we would play the Edpuzzle, and the students would be able to participate in
the questions.
After that, students could choose their groups and create a poster or Flipgrid to identify what goods
and services are, the differences, and 3 different examples of each. Students would have choice, and
the final product would tell me if they grasped the concepts or if they need
reengagement/reteaching.
I would extend student learning to a higher learning level by having students come up with ideas of
goods and services they could provide. I would film a video of all of the students with their posters/
provide the Flipgrid links and post it to the class blog for their parents to see.
I would conclude the lesson by reviewing the students’ products and reviewing any misconceptions
they may have.
Reflective Practice:
I think the activities will impact student learning in a positive way. They are being provided with
multiple means of representation, action and expression, and engagement. To further extend the
learning, students could come up with ideas of goods and services they could provide in the
community. I am using a YouTube recording of a first-grade friendly book about goods and services,
where Spanish subtitles could be used. Overall, students will be given many opportunities to learn
about goods and services and ways they can demonstrate their knowledge.
