Input fields and display fields. Values, data, etc. can be entered in an input field
using the keypad.
Also part of the switch cabinet.
Layer:
A layer consists of several paper sheets collected on top of each other.
Until they are folded in machine section 2 (binding section), the collected paper
sheets are called layers.
Strip:
A strip consists of several folded paper sheets collected on top of each other
which were sewn.
From when they are folded in machine section 2 (binding section), the
collected paper sheets are called strips.
Offset:
When you enter an offset amount, the backlining tape is cut off nearer to the strip

Information!
The order in which the assemblies are installed is shown on the following
general layout diagram and/or the general overviews of assemblies.
The Operating instructions are generally arranged in this order (excluding
the switch cabinet).
Machine section 1 begins at the Unwind unit assembly and ends at the Sewing
right assembly.
Machine section 2 begins at the Transport after sewing assembly and ends at
the Discharge belt assembly.

The entire control system of the machine is de--energized at the main switch: all
electric motors, blowers, fans, pumps, auxiliary units, attachments, in brief the
whole machine and the switch cabinets.
In the OFF position (0 position) the main switch can be secured with a padlock
against unauthorized operation.
The main switch is switched off for longer shutdowns, e.g. end of shift, weekend,
holidays, etc.
When the machine main switch is switched off, the control voltage is automatically
switched off as well, but it should always be switched off first anyway.
! WARNING
DANGER!
Read the Operating instructions before starting up the machine!
Before turning the machine’s main switch on, ensure that the machine is in
a safe operating condition and that no one will be endangered by switching
the machine on.
Turn the main switches off and secure them against unauthorized operation
when carrying out repair or maintenance work.
To shut off all motors, turn the machine main switch OFF and secure against
unauthorized operation by others!
Blowers, fans, pumps, etc. run on for a while after switching off and can
start up on their own when the machine is switched on again!
Never remove connected pipes, hoses, sacks, connectors, etc. when the
blowers, fans, pumps, etc. are running. Increased danger of hair, etc. being
pulled into the machine!

A main digital display is installed at a highly visible place on each machine section.
A signal column (red/orange/green) is installed on this display.
Acoustic signals are given as a startup warning and if there are other
warnings/faults.
999
Fig. 10
While the machine is running, the P211 main digital display and the display of the
control panel in the P21 main control console show the current machine running
speed of machine section 2 in c/min.
If the number flashes when the machine is running, a warning number is shown on
the corresponding main digital display as well as on the display of the control
panel in the corresponding main control console.
The machine, however, continues running.
The meaning of the warning numbers can be read from the display of the control
panel in the corresponding main control console -- see Fault and warning
display main mask.
If there is a fault, the fault number is shown on the corresponding main digital
display as well as on the display of the control panel in the corresponding main
control console.
The machine stops.

fault/warning.

7.2 Startup and fault signals
Acoustic signals (e.g. horn, hooter, bell or similar) are mounted on the machine or
switch cabinet to provide a start--up warning signal.
Provided there are no current faults, the start--up warning occurs in the form of a
loud ringing tone every time the Machine ON (001) illuminated pushbutton is
pressed.
DANGER!
Leave the machine’s danger area immediately if the machine’s start--up
warning signal sounds!
The tow cable inching buttons are used for operating the machine in inching
mode -- see 9.1. The machine can still be moved despite a fault having occurred if
the machine has been switched over to inching mode by turning the key switch.
Exception:
EMERGENCY STOP button is pressed or protective device of another safety
circuit is opened.
The start--up warning also occurs when an inching button has been pressed.
If there is a malfunction, an acoustic signal sounds when the inching button is
actuated for as long as the inching button is pressed.
DANGER!
Increased danger of injury from all moving parts in inching mode!

Information!
If the tow cable inching button, also called “incher”, is used, it is called
“inching”.
DANGER!
The machine can still be moved in inching mode using the tow cable inching
button even if there is a fault or a protective device is open.
Only the operator who activated and pressed the inching button may work
on the machine (e.g. for adjustments, conversions, maintenance, cleaning)
during inching mode.
A second person must not be carrying out any work involving the machine
at this time!
There is an increased danger of injury, e.g. if the inching button is activated
at one end of the machine while a second person is working at the other end
of the machine or on another assembly and does not hear the warning
signal for the machine starting up (or does not notice it for whatever reason)
and consequently gets pulled into the machine!
Serious injuries including loss of limb can result!
If several people are working on the machine at the same time, e.g. for
adjustments, conversion, maintenance, cleaning, etc., the main switch
must be set to OFF and secured against being operated by others or, if this
is not possible, at least all Emergency Stop buttons must be activated!

Temperature regulator:
The temperature for the gluing device is set separately at the temperature
regulator.
Generally speaking, the temperature should rise by about 5 °C to 10 °C from
setting to setting, whereby attention must be paid to the manufacturer’s details
concerning the processing temperature for the hot melt.
Example:
Tank in hot melt unit = 170 °C
Material hose = 175 °C
Gluing device = 185 °C
Experience has shown that a temperature setting at the gluing device of between
175 °C and 195 °C is advantageous. This depends, however, on the hot melt used
and the ambient temperature as well.
The glue manufacturer’s specifications are binding.
Information!
Hot melt loses its adhesive strength if heated for a long time without
cooling!
For further information see Operating instructions for the Gluing device or
Auxiliary hot melt gluing assembly.

Information!
Training on the machine is essential. The following description is intended
merely as a reminder.
! WARNING
DANGER!
Read the Operating instructions before starting up the machine!
Before turning the main switch on, ensure that the machine is in a safe
operating condition and that no one will be endangered by switching the
machine on.
Before carrying out maintenance/repair work, turn the main switch off and
secure against operation by others!
The main switch can be secured against unauthorized operation by third
parties by locking it in the 0 position (OFF)!
To shut off all motors, turn the main switch OFF and secure against
unauthorized operation by others!
The main switch is switched off for longer shutdowns, e.g. end of shift,
weekend, holidays, etc.
The control voltage is automatically switched off as well when the main
switch is switched off. Nevertheless, the control voltage should be
switched off first.

11.1 Getting the machine ready for operation and switching it on
D Check the compressed air connection -- the pressure must be > 6 bar
Procedure:
Information!
If the control voltage is switched on at the switch cabinet for machine
section 1, the control voltage for machine section 2 is automatically
switched on as well.
The control voltage for machine section 2 can be switched on and off when
the control voltage for machine section 1 is switched off.
The same applies for switching off.
D Accelerate the machine a little by pressing the Machine faster (026) buttons
and check the operating procedures of the assemblies
DANGER!
The machine runs on for a short period (depending on the machine running
speed) if a protective device is opened while the machine is running.
Never reach into the machine during this period!
