Reflection paper: Chapter 1, understanding teaching

After the discussion I gained a lot of knowledge About understanding

teaching. Now I realize that my current Understanding about teaching is not
sufficient, My way of preparing and discussing the topic is not following any teaching
methods and principles. Topic is the most challenging tasks for a teacher to prepare
a lesson, we cannot decide a topic without reviewing and analyzing the theme and
the learnings. All of our decision for choosing a topic will be considering the possible
outcomes for the learner, Many things that need to consider for teaching. A quality
teacher can give their best for the student in the exceptional way, that’s why we
considered teaching is the noblest profession. As a future teacher I need to prepare
myself to be effective in classroom sittings, I’m also enhancing myself into teaching
world and applying Teaching methods in different strategies application. I use this
learnings sooner in teaching profession. I’m also believe that the Teaching for
Understanding (TfU) framework is effective and I serve this as my guide for
Teaching. I remember during my college time, I’m also making a report and
discussing it in the class. The difference is in the way of preparing, planning and
delivery of the topic. That time I’m preparing my topic and materials without thinking
and considering the possible outcomes after the class, that time my goals only is to
deliver and explain my topic base of what understanding I have. I’m only discussing
in my natural way of what I have and not searching and using different Teaching
methods that need to apply.

Now I’m so great full to learned About Teaching and the application of the
teaching methods and general guidelines for teaching profession. I feel too blessed
about this new knowledge I have learned during the class discussion, it will give me
a motivation and competence to make my duty properly. It is helpful for us as a
future teacher to do our Teaching profession with high level of quality and skills. Now
we could start to scan different research, methods and strategies that fit to us and
soon to be master as a preparation for our profession. We should be careful of
Teaching methods and strategies to be employ in classroom sittings, remember to
know the your learner and the level of achievement they have. That’s why we need
to flexible at that time and willing to change our strategies of teaching appropriated to
the kind of student you have. Not all student is smart and pass learners, their has a
pupil that low achievement. It’s time consuming but you need to be patient and
making other ways on how they can cope up with the lesson.

Somehow the discussion can give me a clear understanding about teaching,

All I have learned will be use as my guide to my future topics. As a future teacher
someday, we need to start searching and finding the different type of method of
teaching and strategies so that we can choose for those of what kind of teaching
style we are comfortable and productive during the classroom discussion. Many
available research from web that can support your Teaching style and serve as you
guidelines for you Teaching profession. We kept practicing as preparation to our field
study maybe next year. After you can master all of those teaching style you can
make it like in your natural way of what you have, definitely you owned that skills.
And that’s the point that become easy for on how to teach and to for class
discussion. In this discussion Teaching for understanding (TfU) framework is the
primary basis to employed and many research and theories that support in every
single details of this discussion.

Reflection paper: Chapter 2, The learner

This topic made me realize the most important thing about teaching
profession, and what is the purpose of teacher?. The teaching profession has been
made because of the learners. That’s the reason why the teacher need a learner and
the learner need a teacher. There’s no teacher around the word if without a learner.
The learner or a pupil are the main character in education. So we are a future
teacher and our mission are to teach and enhance the ability and skills of our
student, To do this; first you try to know your learner. There has many kind of learner
like the difference in all factors. Kolb 2006, he explained different people naturally
prefer a certain single different learning style and several factors influence a person’s
preferred style. Pupils can learned in different style, that’s why we need to be flexible
in all things. There has a pass learner or smart student and there has a low achiever
learners, The low learner is needed your time, patience and understanding. It’s a
time consuming, but we try to don’t give-up. I remember during my school days, also
I observe like this scenario, but my teacher don’t giving up especially to the naughty
student. Sometimes my teacher before or after the class discussion, they talk and
sharing their motivating experience, and others issues about the real life. For what
purpose? That times I think my teacher do that thing because they were giving up
and feel boredom in his duty. But now I know that I’m wrong, they do that not for the
reason to escape the classes. They do that to getting to know their student and that
is required by the curriculum.

I think this chapter opened my mind and can give a appropriate learnings
about how to teach a different kinds of learners like through; visual, aural, verbal,
physical, logical and social all of this basic learning style of every learners on how to
understand about the matter of they focused. I’m also a learner for now and soon to
be an educator. Thinking back to my primary schooling I see myself as an excited,
I’m also a learner motivated by understanding the unknown. I loved exploring the
world using my imagination, literature and by getting my hands dirty. I loved
questioning how things worked by interrogating and disturbing seemingly complex
systems like water fountains, radio, or anything with especial mechanism. It is said
that all children are is born with curious minds. I believe curiosity is an innate aspect
of childhood that drives the learning process. All of us being curious of all things
during our childhood time so that in the Teaching matter we make a things
interesting to the learner in every lessons that we discuss, we are also looking for
their attention to participate the class, So that the learning process of every learner
bas been work during class discussion.
Somehow the discussion about the learner give me a better Idea on how to
deal with them, I considered the individual differences of every learner in terms of
their age, gender, physical and mental capacity. I want to apply this knowledge in my
classroom sittings and I make it as my guide on how to get to know with my student
in the future, I’m also being aware especially to the low academic achievement
learner so that I can give my time, effort, understanding, patience and love, and not
giving up for them until they can coop- up with the lessons . To avoid become behind
to their classmate in terms learnings in classroom sittings. We can apply a different
Teaching method for them as our guide and to look their progress, so we can
evaluate their level of understanding from previous to current. We can use different
theories and research as a support mechanism. The cognitive theory and individual
differences theory was also employed. And we are also priorities always the quality
of knowledge that they get after the class and they will use that learnings as their
weapons in the future..
