Varieties of Georgette;
It comes in various forms the most famous and
expensive is the one made of Pure Silk Yarns,
Where as the one made from Viscose and
Polyester are quite cheaper and less breathable
than Silk (Since Natural Fiber’s have a very good
Breathability Quality) However not only the yarns
that are used to make georgette create variety there
are other specifications as well, a few of them are
listed here;
1. Georgette-A traditional type of Georgette,
sheer and grainy, also called Crepe Georgette.
2. Jacquard Georgette- A type of fabric woven on
a Jacquard Loom (Woven fabrics
manufactured by using the Jacquard
attachment on the loom. This attachment
provides intricate versatility in designs and
permits individual control of each of the warp
yarns. Thus, fabrics of almost any type or
complexity can be made. Brocade and damask
are types of jacquard woven fabric) these
patterns are very stable, strong and durable as
compared to prints.
3. Embroidered Georgette- Embellished with
sequins, beadwork and threads.
4. Satin Georgette- A heavier type of georgette
Characteristics
1. The Crepe like texture of georgette fabric
makes it very springy,
2. It also drapes well, making a popular choice for
women’s fashion in which clingy yet flowing
fabrics are required.
3. It is lightweight, and can be used as a layer in a
garment
4. Though georgette is considered as a strong
material than chiffon, it is still advisable to
follow special care while washing like Hand
Wash and use of very little detergent.
5. Pure Georgette is quite expensive in
comparison to all other types.
6. Faux Georgette is least 5 times cheaper than
pure georgette.
7. It is best for Springy and lively gowns, because
of its strength and crepe like texture.
8. It can also be used to accessorize the garment
since it is highly absorbent in nature.
