Study Permit
A visa officer will make a decision based on the documents you submit.
Additional documents will not be requested. Failure to submit relevant
documents may result in your application being returned, delayed or refused.
Any documents not in English or French must be accompanied by a certified
translation. Please submit photocopies only of official documents, as no documents will be
returned to you once your application has been processed.
False statements or submission of fraudulent documents will result in refusal of your
application. In addition, you may become inadmissible from entering Canada for five (5)
years.
The submission of an application does not guarantee the issuance of a permit/visa. Do not
finalize travel plans until you have received a visa.

Medical exam requirements for temporary residents (visitors, students and workers)
you wish to work in a job where it is important to protect public health, such as
o health services,
o child care or
o primary or secondary education, or
you will be working in an agricultural job and you have lived in a designated country or territory, or
If you do need a medical exam, the visa office will tell you what to do next.
You are encouraged to do your medical exam, if required, at your own cost, before you submit your
application. This could speed up the processing time of your application, but it does not guarantee that
the study permit will be approved. If you do so, please submit the Health Canada Details e-medical
form as proof.
In addition to the documents listed in the checklist IMM5483, you
must submit the following items:
Your valid passport. The validity of a visa cannot go beyond the validity of the
passport.
You may also include previous passports (cancelled or expired), if applicable, to
demonstrate previous travel history.
Please do not send passport covers (plastic, leather, etc.).
Note: Remember to keep two (2) photocopies of the information page of your passport in case a
medical exam is required.

Proof of your legal status in Colombia or Ecuador, if you are not currently residing in the
country of citizenship of the passport submitted along with your application.
Military record and Form IMM 5546 - Colombian Citizens: If you have served in the
military (Air Force, Navy, Army or Police), you must attach an official record issued by the
Armed Forces (Hoja de Vida Oficial de las Fuerzas Armadas).
Schedule 1 – Application for Temporary Resident Visa (IMM 5257 – Schedule 1), if
applicable.
A Study Plan indicating why you wish to go to Canada to study this program, your overall
educational goals, and how this Canadian program will help you meet those goals.
Personal bank statements for accounts or term deposit certificates for the past three
months.
Any additional relevant documentation such as, but not limited to: investments,
voluntary pension funds, tax certificate, etc.
For salaried workers: provide an employment letter, stating your position, period of
employment, salary and pay stubs.
Pensioner: proof of pension.
For self-employed, contractors or business owners: provide a copy of your contract(s),
business registration and tax documents.
For students:
Si usted necesita un examen médico, la oficina de visas le dirá cuáles son los pasos a seguir.
Se recomienda que realice su examen médico, si es necesario, con sus propios medios
económicos antes de enviar su solicitud. Esto podría acelerar el tiempo de procesamiento de su

Un plan de estudio que indique por qué desea ir a Canadá para estudiar este programa,
cuáles son sus objetivos educativos generales y cómo este programa canadiense le
ayudará a alcanzar sus metas.
Además de sus fondos, proporcione una carta firmada y con fecha por la
persona que paga por sus estudios, indicando claramente qué gastos se
cubrirán y la evidencia de la relación entre esta persona y el solicitante.
