Ebol, Kenn Act 9

This document contains three electrical engineering problems involving transformer configurations and ratings: 1) An open delta bank with two single phase transformers is operating a 3-phase and single-phase load. Determine the minimum transformer rating. 2) An open delta transformer is operating a 3-phase load. Determine the power factor of each transformer. 3) A Scott-connected transformer combination connects a 2-phase network to a 3-phase system. Calculate the required number of turns for the main and teaser transformers.

1. An open delta bank, consisting of two single phase transformers is operating with a
balanced 3 phase load of 50 kVA, 440 Volts at 0.8 p.f. lagging and a single phase load of
10kW resistive connected across c-a leg. Determine the minimum rating of the two
transformers. Assume a phase sequence of a-b-cand 3 phase load is WYE connected.
2. An open delta 3 phase transformer consisting of two single phase transformers is operating
with a balanced 3 phase load of 50 kVA, 440 V at a lagging pf of 0.8. Determine the
operating pf.of each transformer.
3. A 3300Volts, 60 Hz, 2 phase network is connected to a 3 phase, 4 wire system by a
Scottconnected transformer combination. If there are 1200 turns on the 2 phase side,
calculate the number of turns on the3 phase side required for the main and teaser
transformers. Voltage per phase on the 3 phase side is 220 V.
