Assessment 7 & 8

1.    Define Magazine Advertising in your own words.

Magazine advertising is advertisement that people see in publications. Starting or

maintaining a magazine depends on several factors, but one of the most important is advertising.
Advertising sales can make or break publications, and almost all magazines rely on the revenue
generated by advertisers to maintain their business.

It is very important to advertise in a magazine before a new publication is released.

Initially, advertising revenue can pay employees' salaries and help pay for startup costs. Not only
that but placing the right types of advertisements through magazines can also boost magazine
sales. Advertisers also realize that placing ads strategically in the right magazine can improve
their business many times,

2.    State the similarity between Magazine Advertising and Radio Advertising.

For the record, Magazine and Radio Advertising are both effective tools to promote a
product, service, or good. These advertising methods are still important in today’s generation.
These are the similarities of Magazine Advertising and Radio Advertising:

 Both are paid and it is not free.

 There is a process to follow in order to have a successful and effective
advertisement.
 Both are meant to deliver a message from a sender to an audience.
 Both are medium of communication.

3.    Which of the two advertising is more effective than the other?

Not to be biased or anything but I know for a fact that both advertising strategies are
effective for their own target audience. The answer to this question lies in the expectation of the
user or audience.

But for me, radio advertisement is more effective in reaching out audiences and send a
message to the target audiences. These are the reasons why I think radio advertisement is way
better than magazine advertisement:

 Magazine advertisement takes more time in processing, sharing and

communicating information than radio advertising.
 Radio advertisement can reach a larger group of audience and makes it easier to
connect to them.
 Radio advertisement minimizes the effort of the audience because all they need to
do is listen.
 Live events can be shared in radio advertising.
4.    Give one example of a magazine/radio advertising that became memorable through the
years. (Exemption to Mcdonald’s)

For me the most memorable Radio Advertising I ever heard is the advertisement of Tiki
Tiki Vitamins. It made a mark in mind and I can still remember the lyrics of the jingle.

“United American Tiki Tiki

Pampalusog ng iyong baby
United American Tiki Tiki
Tiki Tiki for baby!”

ASSESSMENT 8
1.    Give one example of television advertising and explain what made it memorable.

One of the most memorable and probably the most funniest TV commercial I ever
watched is the RC Cola Advertisement. In the advertisement, a young boy entered the house
crying and asked her mom if he was adopted. They suddenly cried and the boy asked her mom
why did he have a set of drinking glass in his back. The funniest part of this is, the mom cried and
she lifted her head and the real head of his mom is a bottle of RC Cola. The odd plot twist of this
advertisement made a lot of noise ever since the commercial aired in TV.

2.    Give one example of a company that used transit advertising. Add supporting
evidences.

The above is an example of one of the most successful examples of transit advertisement
is by The Martin Agency which created a “Don’t jump” bus campaign for Careerbuilders. This
particular advertisement, placed on tops of buses could be seen from tops of buildings and
offices and helped Martin Agency win a Bronze Lion from Cannes.

3.    As a consumer, which of the two advertising types relates to you best? Why?
The advertising type that relates to me best is the television advertising, growing up I used
to watch TV a lot before and after attending class. I watched my favorite teleserye and watched
several advertisements, I am not much of an outdoor person, and I would rather stay inside the
house instead of going outside. I also relate some of my life experience to the advertisement that
the TV is showing me. Most of those advertisements are about family.

4.    Design your own OOH ad for a business you’d like to put up.

5.    Is there a difference between OOH advertising and transit advertising? Elaborate

Transit advertising is actually a TYPE of outdoor advertising. What are other types of
outdoor advertising as well? Billboards, what we like to call outdoor furniture (bus stop shelters,
kiosks, phone booths) outdoor displays for businesses etc. Each form of advertising is a bit
different in the details of the advertising technique but all are part of the outside world viewed by
a huge audience of people from many different demographics.
