KROADER’s OW Heroes Package

July 11, 2020

1 General Comments
This package is a collection of ~1 hour hero-specific routines. There’s obviously a decent amount of
overlap between routines, if you want to combine different routines you don’t have to do the same
scenario twice.
Use 103 fov when playing them, and your hipfire sens (even for the widow routine - the scenarios
aren’t adapted to very low sens and fov).
Scenarios on the same line, separated by a /, are ordered in terms of increasing difficulty, to make
this routine accessible to all levels. Jumps in difficulty are big and should take a long time to achieve.

2 Widowmaker Routine
Remember when playing all these scenarios that you should first focus on being clean and precise,
before worrying about speed. Try and draw straight lines from target to target, with no wasted
motion. Generally the smaller versions of the scenarios are closer to widow aim but don’t be afraid to
play the easier ones if you’re a beginner.

• Wide Wall 6 Targets/Wide Wall 6 Targets Small - 10 minutes: First of all, an "easy"
scenario to warm you up. This one will be good to work on your flicks over large distances, which
can be very difficult to do cleanly. Don’t aim by hovering over the balls, clicking as you pass
them (even if this is better for score) - try and stop your mouse motion on each ball. Remember
to lift your mouse as little as possible.

• 1wall 2targets_smallflick 60s - 10 minutes - Another static dot scenario but this time with
only 2 targets, meaning you don’t get to choose the direction of your flick which is nice to
force you to learn hard directions. You shouldn’t ever have to lift your mouse here. The same
directions as for all the previous scenarios apply, focus on cleanliness.
• 1wall 6targets small/1wall6targets extra small - 10 minutes: A really fundamental
exercise, not too much to say here. Just make sure not to aim as many do on this scenario,
where you flick close to the ball fast, and then correct onto it. While it can work to get a
good score, it’s not as good practice for real game, and you’re not learning the proper form by
doing this. Zeeq is a very good example of someone who aims as you should on this scenario,
so don’t be afraid to watch his video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djQsUCtHjM4) as
a good example. The small version is already good to progress on for a very long time and I

1
think better to play, but you can play the extra small one when you feel like you want a change.
Remember to lift mouse as little as possible.
• 1wall 20targets extra small - 10 minutes: This is to work on your really precise adjustments
over smaller distances, which are very common with cs. Try and aim the same way as you would
on 1w6ts (like zeeq does), although obviously a bit slower. As the precision demand is so much
higher, you might miss a lot more aiming like this than you would if you allowed yourself to
correct, but this is fine. Don’t worry about score too much, it will come as you improve the
accuracy of your first mouse movement.
• Aim Hero - Strafing/KROADER’s Headshot Practice - 10 minutes: Very good scenario
as you should be aiming in a similar manner on strafing targets with widow. Make sure you’re
using the pistol. Here, the target is quite fast and you can shoot the pistol fast, but you’ll get
a bad score spam clicking. Track the target as if using a tracking weapon. Try and click as fast
as you can while your crosshair is on the target. You might have to start off shooting only 1
or 2 times per burst for example, but as your skill improves you’ll be able to accurately shoot
longer bursts (https://youtu.be/ka9i3MQ9AWs an example of how this would look at high skill,
but don’t shoot this much right away). Try to lift mouse as little as possible. You won’t be able
to burst as fast on KROADER’s headshot practice, most likely having to only shoot once per
strafe, although once skilled enough you should often be able to hit the ball 2 or 3 times in one
strafe.
• Bounce 180/Bounce 180 Small/Popcorn Goated - 10 minutes: To work on your ability
to headshot jumping and falling targets. Try and aim predictively, place your crosshair in the
bot’s path and click as it passes, don’t track it, especially on popcorn.

• 1wall5targets pasu reload/pasu small reload - 10 minutes: To work on your aim on

enemies moving two dimensionally. Really don’t like the non-small version here but it’s good for
beginners, try and play the small one if you find it manageable - extremely good scenario, you’ll
often be aiming in a similar way in real game and trains very hard angles. Try and pay attention
to when the bots are longstrafing and click them then, or track them and wait until right after
a direction change to shoot (since they’re unlikely to change direction again immediately - true
for pasu as well).

3 Tracer Routine
This routine is focused on training your closerange tracking, and your turning skill + ability to track
after turning.

• Target Switching 360 - 10 minutes: Good exercise to train your turning skill and ability
to aim after doing so, which is very important for tracer with blinks. Try and lift your mouse
as little as possible, but make sure to do so fast when you do, and preferably without losing
accuracy (so ideally right after you start shooting a target).

• Target Switching 360 Thin - 10 minutes: Same exercise but this time with less of a focus
on speed and more on the tracking after turns.

2
• Arm Turning Training - 10 minutes: To train your ability to keep track of your opponent in
closerange, which is extremely important for tracer. Try and lift your mouse as little as possible,
only do so when you are on the very edge of your mousepad, or you cannot physically extend
your arm further. Make sure to be aware of your hand’s position on the pad, so that you can
anticipate when to reset to the center, which will allow you to do so faster and while disturbing
your aim less.

• Close Fast Strafes Easy Invincible/Close Fast Strafes Invincible - 10 minutes: A

tracking exercise designed to work on your fast strafes reading and correction on direction change.
Try and lift the mouse as little as possible. Avoid overaiming, you should usually be underaiming
on fast strafes. The easy version is more focused on improving underaim and correction skill,
the non-easy version is more about improving your reading and reactivity on long strafes. Try
and lift mouse as little as possible, really use all of your mousepad.
• Air Bots 13579 - 10 minutes: Air but with only closerange bots, and the UFO (good to train
your blink corrections), very good to train tracking with some verticality. Nothing too specific
to say here, remember to underaim on fast strafe bots.
• Plaza High Ground Easy - Plaza Low Ground Easy / Plaza High Ground - Plaza
Low Ground - Hipfire Sensitivity - 103 fov (10-20 minutes): Vertical tracking is quite
important in FN, and these scenarios are very good to train it at both close and mid range.
Alternate these two scenarios per day (play a different one each day) in order to work on the
two different types of vertical aim - play both in the same day if you’d like to train for longer.
Try and think of the sphere you’re aiming inside of and build a good intuition for aiming at this
kind of angle. Try to lift mouse as little as possible.

4 McCree/Ashe Routine
A good routine to practice headshotting strafing targets, in situaitons when you can take a bit of time
to do so. t.
• Aim Hero - Strafing - 10 minutes: Make sure you’re using the pistol. Here, the target is quite
fast and you can shoot the pistol fast, but you’ll get a bad score spam clicking. Try and click as
fast as you can, while your crosshair is on the target. You might have to start off shooting only 2
times per burst for example, but as your skill improves you’ll be able to accurately shoot longer
bursts (https://youtu.be/ka9i3MQ9AWs a good example of how to play). Try to lift mouse as
little as possible.

• KROADER’s Headshot Practice - 10 minutes: The same scenario but with a much smaller
target. Here, you shouldn’t burst at all, but take your time with each shot. Try to lift mouse as
little as possible.

3
• Bounce 180/Bounce 180 Small/Popcorn Goated - 10 minutes: To work on your ability
to headshot jumping and falling targets. Try and aim predictively, place your crosshair in the
bot’s path and click as it passes, don’t track it, especially on popcorn - I think the bounce 180
variants are typically better than popcorn for mccree, although it’s still good to play popcorn
some amount.

• McCoy 1v1 v2 - 10 minutes: This scenario is very similar to real game, move in order to
maximize damage (think of what this means) - don’t just mirror either, try and experiment with
different forms of strafeaim. Don’t use the flashbang, it’ll raise your score but it worsens the
practice.

5 Soldier Routine
• Plaza High Ground Easy - Plaza Low Ground Easy / Plaza High Ground - Plaza
Low Ground - 10-20 minutes: Vertical tracking is quite important in OW, and these scenarios
are very good to train it at both close and mid range. Alternate these two scenarios per day
(play a different one each day) in order to work on the two different types of vertical aim - play
both in the same day if you’d like to train for longer. Try and think of the sphere you’re aiming
inside of and build a good intuition for aiming at this kind of angle. Try to lift mouse as little
as possible.
• Ground Plaza Sparky v3/Ground Plaza Sparky v3 OW - 10 minutes: A variation of
ground plaza with some interesting movement patterns using a lot of diagonals and having more
variation than the previous scenarios. Very important to learn to aim at enemies that move
diagonally, try and think of aiming towards the inside edge of bots (the edge they’re moving
away from) so you have more time to react to changes in speed due to moving in depth (also
gives you more time to react to changes in direction, so a good thing to think of on all long strafe
scenarios). OW version has instant ground accel which makes it nice reactivity training but I
think less good players (sub4k hitscan) better begin with the first one to train form.

• Bounce 180 Tracking Small - 10 minutes: A tracking exercise designed to train your aim
on jumping and falling targets. Not much to say really, try and lift mouse as little as possible,
good for small angle smoothness.
• voxTargetSwitch/voxTargetSwitch small (voxTargetSwitch 250% more HP/voxTar-
getSwitch 250% Speed & HP Small) - 10 minutes) A target switching scenario, very good
for training target acquisition which is extremely important for soldier. You’ll often want to
switch not directly to the target (and then have to track it) but simply place your crosshair in
front of it (the ideal would be to place it on the very front edge) and kill it for free as it goes

4
through it (you can do this a bit on the previous scenario but TTK is longer so you’ll be forced
to track a bit still). I personally prefer the more hp versions, there’s more of a focus on the
tracking in these and less on the switching which I find allows myself to actually focus more on
individual target switches - I’ll let you decide which you prefer.
• Thin Aiming Long Invincible Medium/Thin aiming Long Invincible/Popcorn Goated
Tracking Invincible - 10 minutes: A scenario to improve your raw smoothness, which is very
important for soldier. Focus on how your arm is moving, and try to avoid it getting stuck at any
point. You should be especially wary of the moment in which you transition from wrist aim to
arm aim (as a result of the bot going too far in one direction), really try and focus on making
this transition as fluid as possible. Try and lift your mouse as little as possible. Popcorn goated
tracking invincible is a very hard scenario and very good for large angle vertical + horizontal
smoothness which can be very useful for OW
• Thin Gauntlet - 10 minutes: A very good scenario to train your smoothness - a bit more
focused on smaller angle compared to TALI and more of a wrist focus, often closer to what you’d
encounter in real game, and has a nice variety of types.

6 Strafeaim Guide
I would highly recommend following AIMER7’s strafeaim guide: https://www.dropbox.com/s/sggvgb-
wpz9e5bih/Strafe%20Aiming%20101.pdf?dl=0
It’s extremely important for soldier and very useful for McCree and Tracer - it’s pretty worthless
for Widow and Ashe though.
