Last Sunday, my friend and I went to the park because David’s family invited us a barbecue
party in the park. We lived nearby so we just walked there.
When we got to the park, there were not many people. David’s family was already there. They
arrived there early to get the best picnic spot with an electronic barbecue grill nearby. When we
arrived, they were cleaning the barbecue. After making sure the barbecue was clean, they turned
the barbecue on by pushing the button. The electric stove turned on and the metal plate became
hot.
David’s mother put some cooking oil on the metal plate, and after that she put some sausages,
beef steaks, and some onions on the barbecue. Meanwhile, David’s father was preparing the
bread, butter and the drinks.
While waiting for the meat to cook, David and I joined other boys playing football. When we got
tired, we stopped and enjoyed the sausages, steaks, and some cold soft drinks.
The food was delicious. I think David’s mother is one of the best chef in the world.

You can imagine how frightened I was, but the crew was fantastic. The flight attendants were
really calm and told us not to worry. One of them told me to relax and said that everything would

Tessie
We were moving house and dad asked me to help him sort out all the boxes in the storeroom. I
hadn’t been in the storeroom for aged and wondered what we would find. One wall was line with
shelves, stacked with boxes almost to the ceiling there where many other wrapped up objects of
different shafts and sizes. Dad opened the boxes and rummage through them. I moved over to a
wooden box and was just about to lift the lid when it toppled over. Everything fell out into a
heap.
Then I saw it! My heart began to pound and many knees began to shake. It was a rubber ring. It
had belonged to my beloved dog. Tessie. She died two years ago.
I was only four when we got Tessie. I chose her from among other puppies. She was my best
friend. Although she had a basket in the kitchen she would creep up to my room at night and
sleep in the bottom of the bed. If I was cold she would snuggle up next to me.
Tessie could do anything. She could beg and sit and shake a paw. I taught her to fetch things.
One Christmas, I bought her rubber ring. I wrapped it up in shiny paper and place it under
Christmas tree. She played with it every day. Tessie would wait at the front door went she knew
it was time for me to come home from school. She would howl the painting with the rubber ring
in front of her. If didn’t play, she would howl and wouldn’t stop until did. In the weekend we
would take the ring to the playground and play four hours and hours until neither of us could run
anymore.
Then one day Tessie fell ill. She didn’t wait for me by the front door anymore and she didn’t
want to play with the ring. I tried to encourage her, “Come on, Tessie. Come and play.”
Seemed out of breath she couldn’t walk very well and she wasn’t eating properly. Mum and I
took her to the vet. The vet shook her head and told us that Tessie was really sick.
I went to the room where Tessie was waiting and said my goodbyes I felt her warm fur for the
last time on my face and then I ran outside and cried…..
Once upon a time, there was a man who was living in north Sumatra. He lived in a simple hut in
a farming field. He did some gardening and fishing for his daily life.
One day, while the man was do fishing, he caught a big golden fish in his trap. It was the biggest
catch which he ever had in his life. Surprisingly, this fish turned into a beautiful princess. He felt
in love with her and proposed her to be his wife. She said; “Yes, but you have to promise not to
tell anymore about the secret that I was once a fish, otherwise there will be a huge disaster”. The
man made the deal and they got married, lived happily and had daughter.
Few years later, his daughter would help bringing lunch to her father out in the fields. One day,
his daughter was so hungry and she ate his father’s lunch. Unfortunately, he found out and got
furious, and shouted; “You damned daughter of a fish”. The daughter ran home and asked her
mother. The mother started crying, felt sad that her husband had broken his promise.
Then she told her daughter to run up the hills because a huge disaster was about to come. When
her daughter left, she prayed. Soon there was a big earthquake followed by non-stop pouring
rain. The whole area got flooded and became Toba Lake. She turned into a fish again and the
man became the island of Samosir.
The hunters were after Freddie the fox. He flew across the fields in terror, until he saw a wood-
cutter returning from woods. “Please help me!” Freddie gasped. “Go and hide in my hut there,”
replied the wood-cutter. Freddie looked out of the hut. He saw the hunters stop and ask the
woodsman if they had seen a fox.
“No,” said the tree-cutter loud enough for Freddie to hear, but as he spoke he pointed his finger
towards the hut.
Luckily for Freddie, the hunters didn’t notice this and rode away. The fox slipped out of the hut
to run home. “Aren’t you even going to say thank you to me for saving you?” Asked the wood-
cutter as Freddie went past him. “I would have done,” replied Freddie. “but I saw how you tried
to betray me.”
In the olden times there was a king who was so cruel and unjust toward his subjects that he was
always called the Tyrant. So heartless was he that his people used to pray night and day that they
might have a new king.
One day, much to their surprise, he called his people together and said to them, “My dear
subjects, the days of my tyranny are over. Henceforth, you shall live in peace’s and happiness,
for I have decided to try my rule henceforth justly and well.”
The king kept his word so well that soon he was known throughout the land as The Just King. By
and by one of his favorites came to him said, “Your Majesty, I beg you to tell me how it was that
you had this change of heart towards your people.
And the king replied, “As I was galloping through my forest one afternoon, I caught a sight of a
hound chasing a fox. The fox escaped into his hole, but not until he had bitten by the dog so
badly that he would be lame for life. The hound, returning home, met a man who threw a stone at
him, which broke his leg. And the horse, starting to run, fell into a hole and broke his leg. Here I
came to my senses, and resolved to change my rule. ‘For surely,’ I said to myself, he’s who does
evil will sooner or later be overtaken by evil.”
My Day
I had a terrible day yesterday. First, I woke up an hour late because my alarm clock didn’t go off.
Then, I was in such a hurry that I burned my hand when I was making breakfast. After breakfast,
I got dressed so quickly that I forgot to wear socks.
Next, I ran out of the house trying to get the 9:30 bus, but of course I missed it. I wanted to take a
taxi, but I didn’t have enough money.
Finally, I walked the three miles to my school only to discover that it was Sunday! I hope I never
have a day as the I had yesterday.

Yesterday, my friends and i went to visit five tourism objects in Jojakarta and its surrrounding,
e.g. the Sultan Palace, Tamansari Water Castle, Monumen Yogja Kembali, Prambanan Temple,
and Borobudur Temple. We hired a mini bus. Budi, my friend in Yogyakarta, acted as a tour
guide. We departed very early in the morning and were back home at 6:15 p.m. So, we spent the
whole day.
All of the five objects are interesting but Borobudur and Prambanan temples are more interesting

mine said that these two temples were really wonderful. After I saw them by myself, they are
even more wonderful than what imagined. Of these two temples, Borobudur is the most
wonderful temple I have ever seen. It is much bigger than Prambanan. I am sure you will admire
