II. SCHOOL CURRENT SITUATION

II.1 SCHOOL PROFILE/DATA
Behind every successful school is a tribe of successful school administrators,
teachers, parents, stakeholders and students who have her back from rags to riches.
Laguindingan National High School is an example of an institution that started from
a small structured learning center that turns out to be a Mega School in the
Department of Education, Division of Misamis Oriental.

Laguindingan National High School is located at the western side of Misamis

Oriental in the municipality of Laguindingan. As a school, she has an area of four
hectares more or less and a twenty nine kilometres travel from Laguindingan to
Iligan City, and 40-50 minutes travel to Cagayan de Oro City.

The school was founded in January 1972 as Laguindingan Municipal High

School, and the operation started in July 6, School Year 1972-1979 headed by Mr.
Amado A. Adviento. The school started from a bamboo classroom, limited learning
resources and few teachers, but it never give a reason to stop the school to deliver
quality education to the students. It may be challenging, but the empowerment spirit
of the school’s administrators, stakeholders and teachers made everything possible,

and luckily, Laguindingan Municipal High School made legal upon the approval of
the former Assistant of the Bureau of Public School on July 3, 1972.

February 8, 1982, the school became a self-operating institution unit

providing teaching and non-teaching personnel in the Plantilla of Personnel (POP)
and became Laguindingan National High School under the effort and perseverance
of the late Mr. Francisco A. Gamolo as the second principal and with the help of
Mrs. Carmen C. Lamdagan.

In the early 80s, Laguindingan National High School was an institution

timidly competing performance status in the giant school of Misamis Oriental. Every
success story of the school was behind the competitive and dedicated school
administrators in different span of time. Who would have thought that a bamboo
school would become into a storey building school with many learning tools that can
provide advance learning to the learners? The school before was not an extravagant
institution, but it produced many successful products who bring honour to the school
until this time.

Today, the school is on rapid development to accommodate the influx of

increasing population due to different establishments built, the presence of the
International Airport and above all, the quality education that the school can offer to
every student regardless of their learning competencies.

With the implementation of the 12 years Basic Education, the school has
increasing enrolment for Junior High School and Senior High School. As of June 30,
2018, the school catered 2,714 learners from Grade 7-Grade 12, and this enrolment

increases until the present time. She has Eighty Three (83) Teaching staff (Junior &
Senior), Eleven (11) Non-Teaching personnel, two (2) School Heads and one (1)
School Principal, and a total of 97 workforces.

As Laguindingan National High School aged, it embodies the platform of

quality education with a heart. The school believed, “I can do things you cannot,
You can do things I cannot, Together we can do great things”. Indeed, that quotation
brings many successes to the school, and those are credited to the following
administrators as shown below who managed this school with flying colors.
