THINK AND REFLECT

Directions: For a much meaningful learning in the future, answer the following in a
separate sheet of paper.
Concepts I understood today: The concepts of truths, opinions, and fallacies. How a
person act and speak are always based on these first two concepts. However, one
should know the ways in detecting fallacies in an argument bur prior to that, he/she
should have the knowledge first what are the different fallacies.

Concepts I want to be clarified: Methods of Philosophizing was a bit a complex topic that
I have some time trouble in understanding its concepts.

What question about your life are you struggling to find answers to? Share some of them.
There’s so much about life that if I’d started to think of it, I’ll be lost in my own thoughts.
Breathing wasn’t just a purpose of life. The way we act and think always reflect the image of
our life. Finding the meaning and answers to the different questions about life doesn’t happen
overnight. But as I go on with my life, I learned that challenges, failures, mistakes, and
disappointments are always a part of it and after that lessons, experience, and success were
always the reward, Life is like a wheel indeed. But I always find the struggles to answer these
questions: What really are the purposes of my life? Am I still alive after ten years from now?
Will I be who I want to be in the future? Will I claim my success? Will everything go as I
planned?

WHAT IS PHILOSOPHY

Do you think Juan’s answer was appropriate for his teacher’s question? Why?
 Yes. In my opinion, Juan understands the question clearly and gave his answer based on
his thought about life. You can never judge the person on who he wants to be in the
future. It doesn’t mean that just because a deep thought was answered in a simple
question was inappropriate.

What do you think was Juan’s interpretation of his teacher’s question?

 If what kind of person he wants to be in life.

Based on his responses, what kind of student do you imagine Juan to be?
 Juan wants to be happy. Being happy consists of different forms depending on what a
person wants for him/her to fulfill his/her happiness .He maybe noticed that when a
person grows up, he/she needs to make serious decisions in life because he/she isn’t
getting any younger. Perhaps in his life, whatever choices he’ll made, he will always find
happiness to that for him to be happy.

LEARN THIS AND DISCOVER

Directions: From the quoted lines of known Philosophers in the previous activity,
which of those do you like best? Why? What is the essence or the core message of the quoted
line which you have chosen? Write your answers on a separate sheet of paper.
As stated by Saint Augustine that man can be divided into body and soul, and no doubt
the soul is more real and important. Our body is only made of flesh therefore our body
needs flesh to live and grow and become healthy whilst the soul is a very special pattern
of energy that drives both our mind and body. It is our own unique identification and it
is also called God’s consciousness. If man is a book then the body is the cover and the
story is its soul therefore the appearance of man is insignificant and cannot be used as
the bases for his judgment but his soul is.

Directions: What is your idea about the word SOUL. Recall an experience which
you could associate with the word SOUL. Write your thoughts on a separate sheet of paper.
 Soul can be defined as the spirit or the essence of a person. The soul is the part
of us and that makes us who we are moreover it is what still lives and remains
even after our death. When a person dies it feels like he/she still lives with us
because what they did to us or what they change to us was the part of him/her
that was graved to when he/she still lives. We could forget their appearance but
their essence and deeds still remains.

THINK AND REFLECT

Directions: Complete the sentences below on a separate sheet of paper.
I learned that the real essence of man is different from his body, the body stands as the
mediator between the material world and the spiritual world, the ability to surpass limits is
called transcendence.
I realized that _the soul is way more important than the body, transcendence is an important
trait that distinguishes human person from other beings in existence. It is also an important tool
that allows him/her to go beyond his/her physical capabilities and limits. Humans are capable
of going beyond their imagination, thoughts, and experiences.
If given a chance, I will _focus more on my soul and less on my body, focus more on my
advantages and less on my disadvantages, transcends my physical limitations by deepening my
relationship and union with God.

TEST YOUR KNOWLEDGE

Directions: Create a poem or a song which describes how you may be able to
surpass your limits. Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper.

Surrender

She was once afraid of the uncertainties

From unanswered questions to Devine interventions
Is it going to be failure or success
Disappointments or gratifications
But she thought something so golden
There will be no success if there’s no failure
There will be no gratifications if there’s no disappointment

Months from now she will embark to a new journey

It will be full of wonders and adventures
She is human and has limitations
But it doesn’t define who she is
Nor who she will be
For this time she focuses not in her limitations
But to how powerful the divine’s mercy and promises
She now surrenders everything to him
