Sample answer: Alexander Smith was born in

He lived in Botswana in Africa for some years and


he worked as a Professor of Law at Botswana
University. Until 2004 he worked as a Professor of
Medical Law at Edinburgh University. He is an
international expert on genetics. He still lives in
Edinburgh with his family and cat, Gordon.

He wrote ‘No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency’ in 1996


and it was published in 1998. He has written a book
for children called, ‘The Perfect Hamburger’. He has
written over 50 books in all. He also writes for ‘The
Scotsman’ newspaper.

In his free time he plays the bassoon in an amateur


orchestra called, ‘The Really Terrible Orchestra’ and
his wife, Elizabeth plays the flute.
