Festivals in the Month of Phalgun

1) Amalika Ekadashi Phalgun Shukla Paksh -11

Phalgun Shukla Paksha Ekadashi is known as Amalika Ekadashi. It is one of the 24 Ekadashi Fastings
observed in the year.

2) Holika Dahan Phalgun Shukla Paksh -15

Holika Dahan also Kamudu pyre is celebrated by burning Holika, the devil. Holi celebrates the death
of Holika in order to save Prahlad, and thus Holi gets its name. People contribute a piece of wood or two
for Holika bonfire. The Holika Dahan should be done in the PRADOSH KAAL while purnima tuthi is
prevaling.

3) Holi Phalgun Krishna Paksh -1

Festival of Colors. Celebration of the power of the truth and the ultimate victory of good over evil. The
legend of Hiranyakashyap and Prahlad also points to the fact that extreme devotion to god pays as god
always takes his true devotee in his shelter.

4) Sheetla Ashtami Phalgun Krishna Paksh -8

Basoda Puja is dedicated to Goddess Sheetala. It is believed that goddess Sheetla protects one from may
infectious diseases like smallpox,chickenpox,measle etc . Devotion and worship of Sheetala Mata Gives
one protection from these diseases.

5) Paapmochani Ekadashi Phalgun Krishna Paksh -11

Phalgun Krishna Paksha Ekadashi is known as Paapmochani Ekadashi. It is one of the 24 Ekadashi
Fastings observed in the year.
