Sign Languages in the Philippines Meaning
This sign language signifies the state of
being ‘okay’ but mostly it is used by Filipino as reference to ‘money’ or the state of being wealthy.
This hand gesture is shown to someone
when we want to convey them a ‘good job’ or ‘good luck’ message.
Pouting of lips is a Filipino distinct gesture
as it refers to giving of instructions or direction where someone’s lips is pointing and not an invitation for a kiss.
This hand gesture basically means a sign of
peace.
Hands attached to each other means
someone is asking for a favor; in short, it means “please.” Activity 1b:
Sign Languages in the Global Setting Meaning
Raising of clenched fist indicates the
universal symbol of revolution. It also means unity, strength, and solidarity. However, nowadays, it has also became associated with awareness and advocation.
Directing palm at someone means telling the
person to stop and pause. It also signifies someone to wait.
Opening arms while meeting someone
means ‘welcome’ or asking for a hug.
Thumbs up means ‘approval’ in universal
setting. It also indicates ‘good job’ for the well-done work.
