school gardening for the purpose of feeding programs every Nutrition Month and in inculcating among our
learners the values of good health and nutrition, industry , love of labor and caring for others. It was also made
possible to gain income when most of the teachers purchased veggies and some root crops from this gulayan .
Specifically, “ Health is wealth” – literally to maintain a good health is to eat nutritious fruits and
vegetables and at the same time gaining wealth by selling the goods that had planted.
The conduct of Wellness also has brought once again the importance of having a , “Gulayan

Also, the initiative to include herbal plants in our own garden for both the faculty and learners is also
beneficial to everyone.

uplifting women’s empowerment and leadership. On that day, also our display photo in our social media accounts where
changed applying a frame that made by our very own, Mr. Ben Gabriel Maghuyop and has #JuanaNgDepEdELSA caption.
Moreover, teachers post their selfies with inspiring captions about women through #JuanaSays post via FB. A lot of activities
took place in the whole month celebration . The 2021 National Women’s Month with the theme; Juana Laban sa Pandemya:
Kaya! - is a reminder that women are resilient and a fighter amidst pandemic and crisis.
The true essence of a woman is being a light that gives hope and inspiration to everyone, that despite the hardships and
circumstances it is okay to be soft but resilient, kind but tough; and most importantly a comfort to whoever needs love and
security in these trying times.
“Truly, to teach is to touch lives forever. They say, students learnt best when they like their teachers. The
connection between the teacher and the student is a rare gem that must be treasure. “

Through the initiative of Mrs. Aster Gallega, PSDS and at the same time the focal
person for the Indigenous people. The 25 IPED learners of our school were able to receive
radios for their distant learning. With these radios, it is a great help for them to listen to the
lesson that is aired on radio through RBI or Radio Based-Instruction.
IPED stands for Indigenous Peoples Education. This program is DepEd’s response to the right of
IP (Indigenous Peoples) to basic education that is responsive to their context, respects their identities ,
and promotes the value of their indigenous knowledge, skills and other aspects of their cultural heritage .
Hopefully, this is just the start for the incoming blessings for our IPED learners.

CONHS showed its support to the DepEd’s directive through the implementation of the WinS (Was in Schoo)Program
and has been a regional qualifier for two consecutive years. The school constructed a washing area where students
used to maximize during lunch break before pandemic. Now on the new normal set-up, the school added a washing
facility and sanitation tools (e.g. thermometer, alcohol, etc.) upon entering the school premises to cater learners,
parents/guardians, and visitors.
Aside from the washing area, the school created the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to promote 4Rs (Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle, and Refuse) in sanitation. Also, the school implemented the proper segregation of garbage by placing three (3)
garbage bins in every corner of the school and in each classroom to encourage students in disposing their garbage in a
proper manner.
The school also encouraged students to take a bath regularly, wash their hair with shampoo daily, wash their hands
with soap and water before and after going to the toilet and before preparing and/or eating food since disease-causing
germs may get onto hands and under their nails. Dirty clothes should be washed with laundry soap before wearing
them again. When sneezing or coughing, learners were instructed to turn away from people and cover their nose and
mouth with a tissue and/or facemask. By doing this, droplets containing germs from the nose and mouth will be
prevented to spread in the air and people cannot breathe them in.
In response to the CoViD-19 educational challenges, the Department of Education launched the new normal
setting of learning which included distance and blended learning. On this new normal setting, teachers were
challenged in terms of time management in printing, coding, and packing modules, distributing and collecting modules
from learners/parents and/or guardians, checking answer sheets, recording grades, monitoring at-risk learners’
progress, conducting intervention program through action research, developing learners’ materials and resources for
Radio-based and TV-based Instruction. Due to this time-bounded to-do list of teachers, the holistic well-being of
teachers was overlooked. As everyone is adjusting to the new normal setting, so are the teachers. More often than not,
teachers get stressed and resort to stress eating while sitting and printing modules. In line with this, the school
implemented the Biggest Loser Challenge for teachers which is still being conducted daily at 7AM to 8AM since
January 4 of this year.

Since the outbreak of the corona virus on the last quarter of 2019, intense safety measures of social distancing have been
implemented. These safety protocols had affected the scouting activities not jut here in our province but worldwide as well;
travels, face-to-face interaction and outdoor activities had to either be cancelled or postponed indefinitely.
However, as the motto of scouts says, “scouting never stops”, the BSP Misamis Oriental Council headed by its
council scout executive, WBH Jaye Jowelle V. Abu, had moved to online platforms to continuously serve its members.
The Cogon National High School scouts once again had eradicated the barrier of isolation thru participating the 3rd
Online CLTC Training held on March 4-6, 2021 via Zoom. A new wide range of activities, ma
terials and toolkits has been used to make the best of online meeting tool.
They were informed on the essential information about the pandemic, how it is being acquired and how to avoid
being affected with it. Each training activities required outputs that they themselves may create using their resources at
home. They were given heap of activities and DIY materials which are found at home to help them get through the days of
quarantine when the schools are closed. The scouts had accomplished tasks and challenges like tying a knot, proper way of
washing their hands, bandaging and Go Green. Go green challenge will develop their sense of responsibility since they
would need to raise trees, vegetation or any crops they wished to cultivate. It is an no ordinary challenge because the
activity does not just end by planting a tree. The tree planted should grow with the scout. Monitoring on the tree planted
will be facilitated by their adult leaders and trainers.
The 3-day training activity had once again changed the perception of the word “isolation” for the scouts. It had
given them the values of responsibility, love and respect.
The 8 successful crew leaders were awarded and acknowledge during the 2021 Stakeholders
Convergence held last March 22, 2021 at Cogon National High School. Their merit badge were pinned to them
by their ever
supportive parents.
12 Days of Christmas
The new form of bayanihan nowadays that goes viral via social media platforms is the so-called, “ COMMUNITY
PANTRY”. Here at Cogon National High School we initiated the same , through the leadership of Ms. Phoebe Joy M.
Pacut-Lopez.
Stakeholders, parents, guardians and faculty and staff donated any amount for the success of this project. The project
entitled , 12 days of Christmas.
12 days of Christmas—as the bayanihan spirit of giving is done every Christmas, and because this project was
started last December until March this year.
Every Wednesday as the scheduled module retrieval and distribution, parents, and guardians get the chance to pick
from the box and went home with rice, toiletries, canned goods, noodles and the like on their hands.
The culmination of this project was done during the third General PTA Assembly where 13 lucky winners of
cellphones were announced.
