Problem: 1 answer
According to the question, as collected data showed some extreme high and extreme low values
so we should use interquartile range of measure of dispersion. Because interquartile range mainly
calculates the middle 50% of the data. It is used for the purpose of avoiding the problem of
extreme value.
Problem: 2 answer
Step 1: H0: There is no relationship between gender and foreign travel intention.
H1: There is a relationship between gender and foreign travel intention.
Step 2: As we are interested to see if there is any relationship between these two non-metric
Variables, chi-square will be the appropriate statistical technique.
Step 3: 95% is the assumed confidence level, so the level of significance, α=0.05
Step 6: As the Calculated value 158.96 is more than the critical value 3.841 of chi square so we
will reject null hypothesis.

Step 7: Calculated value 158.96> critical value 3.841, so we have to calculate strength of
association. As it is 2 by 2 matrix. So
=√ 158.96 /260
=0.7819
=78.19%
Step 8: There is relationship between gender and foreign travel intention and the relationship is
found to be strong.
Problem: 3 answer
The statement is true, because different assumption of confidence level shows different level of
significance. So, depending on the confidence level is the significance level. So, null hypothesis
is rejected when significance level is less than the required value of α. Then there should be
strength of association to prove “how much strong the relationship is.” So, it is important to be
noticed by the marketing manager.
Problem: 4 answer
Here we can see that research director says to collect sample from 100 companies. So n= 100.
Afterward researcher found that a total of 312 companies located in the continental US found in
the register. So N= 312. So now for identifying the final sample size we have to determine
corrected sample size. And the 2 condition to fulfill it has already exist. So
nc = nN / N+ n-1
= (100X312)/(312+100-1)

= 75.9
So rounding up to the next digit we have the sample size of 76. Therefore, the final sample size
will be 76 companies.
Problem: 5 answer
a) 𝑛=𝑍2×𝜎2/𝐷2
=1.962×102/22
= 96.04
n = 97
b) 𝑛=𝑍2×𝜎2/𝐷2
=1.962×202/22
= 384.16
n = 385
c) 𝑛=𝑍2×𝜎2/𝐷2
=2.5752×5002/502
= 663.0625
n = 664
d) 𝑛=𝑍2×𝜎2/𝐷2
=1.962×22/(0.3)2
= 170.7
n = 171

Problem: 6 answer
The statement is very much true. Based on different scale like metric and non-metric scale and
research objective appropriate statistical analysis will be determined. First of all let’s talk about
how scale can affect statistical analysis. In the step 2 of process of hypothesis testing to
determine appropriate statistical technique we have different scale requirement that all together
can make different test. For an example when there is independent non metric variable and
dependent non-metric variable we have to test chi square. Again when there is independent non-
metric and dependent metric variable and the sample size is more than 30, we do Z test. Lastly
when there is independent non-metric variable and dependent metric variable and the sample size
is 30 or less than 30, we generally conduct T test.
And now the next problem is how research objective determine appropriate statistical analysis. In
determining the sample size, first of all we need to know the research objective. If the research
objective indicates average then we need to proceed according to the formula of mean. If the
research objective indicates percentage then we need to proceed with the formula of proportion.
So from the above discussion we can say that the statement is true.
